Patience in Art Drawing

That is what I told my 10 year old son whenever he had to attend Art lesson in school. He hates Art very much because he could not draw well except the Stickman drawings which he likes to draw on his text books pages. I told him that he needed to have PATIENCE in order to draw anything during ART lesson. It is the patience that gives you the calm and happy mood to draw something that you like or wish to draw. I had noticed that he is always erasing off the curvy lines or uneven sketches that drove him crazy, showing tantrums on and off. Until now, he does not understand how to calm himself before he starts drawing. Any advice to calm him down?

I have to say that I love to draw. The activity itself calms me down haha but I have to say, if you want him to be focused, you should ask him to make the drawings he wants first. He need to understand that the practice makes the master, so if he wants to draw very well he will need to learn a lot, I know there are so many things that could be boring, but they are important :)

I agree with you that drawing makes the artist calm and focus, I do feel that way too

@peachpurple Awesome, it really helps to distract our minds. I will never be tired of drawing. May I see some of your drawings one day?

Tell him to think of something nice that he likes and tell him to start drawing lines and shapes first then he can go to the big ones.

he loves to draw stick men but the art teacher wants him to draw scenery such as the village, buildings and humans. He cannot even draw a decent house. so, I allow to draw stickmen in his art homework but he got a C for that

@peachpurple That's bad every child has a talent of its own, I am sure he too has a hidden talent. He just needs to find it.
