Yes when I had a dog I was able to train him somewhat.

All 3 of my dogs were voice and hand-command trained by me @youless . I had an Akita, Pit Bull and German Shepherd. Sit, stay, come, down, wait, attack.

@youless I ran an animal rescue for several years and before an animal was adopted, they were trained.

We had a blue heeler that was so smart you didn't have to train him. He just knew.

@youless ......I think if you spend a lot of time with them they learn by osmosis or something.

I don't have a pet for a very long time now. But when I had "bantay" my dog, I taught him to sit and pick up stick that was thrown.

I think the most important thing that i taught my dogs before were potty training. Every time we had a new dog in the house, that's the first thing i taught them.
