Hopeful Help

I have mentioned that I don't normally have 2 pennies to rub together and that robbing Peter to pay Paul is a constant struggle. The bills are overwhelming and by the middle of the month, there is zip, zero, zilch, nada. When my daughter came to visit and she saw that I literally looked like a skeleton, her and Cary went to the grocery store to buy me food. She was so upset that the freezer was empty, the refrigerator was empty and the cupboards had a few boxes of macaroni and cheese. We have always joked about winning the lottery (yeah, like I've got a dollar to buy one). Yesterday she informed me that she started a Go Fund Me page. I was surprised, shocked and grateful all at the same time. I wish at age 66 that I could work a job and trust me if it wasn't for my physical condition, I would still be working. I've worked since I was 11-years-old; sometimes 2 jobs at the same time for most of my life. It sucks when you have to figure out what bills you are going to pay and which ones you're not.

I am 66 also and living at my 96 year old mother's home. I had to stop work at 54 due to a surgery that left me with severe chronic pain. I know where you're coming from.and it's no dang fun. I don't know how I'm going to survive when my folks are gone, really. Finances are a terrible worry. I get my SS tomorrow, I can help you a little if you would like to msg. me with the Go Fund Me page. You didn't do anything wrong, you deserve some help. Good for your daughter to start the page. Hugs.

I am glad that your daughter bought food for you. She surely fears you do not eat enough and I think she is right.

@nanette64 I am not anorexic but I am not big either. When I traveled to the United States several time people told me that I was too thin and I needed to eat more. Surely not, I am well without extra weight to carry around.

They give me $16 a month @NJChicaa . I guess they figure I don't need more than a box of cereal, loaf of bread and gallon of milk.

The people who took over the animal rescue that I started will sometimes bring me bags that they get from Walmart. Yeah, I have considered eating canned cat food before.

You can get food stamps if you do not have enough money to make ends meet. If you get food stamps you get a free Obama phone with 250 minutes a month. If you have a spare bedroom maybe you can rent it out, get a roommate. I would ditch any cable/ dish t.v. and I would cut off the internet if I could not buy food and I most certainly would not be paying for a cell phone. Power and water are the most important to have beside a roof over your head. And when you go to the food pantry let them know that you will not have any food for 2 weeks. Do you live in a place you can plant seeds for fresh vegetables? I heard that you can buy packs of seed and tomato plants with food stamps.

I don't use a cell phone @andriaperry except for extreme emergencies. I get $16 a month in food stamps. I tried a roommate once and was robbed. Doing the vegetable thing would be hard for me with my spinal injuries.

@LoriAMoore Originally I filed for Disability and was denied. That was because my stupid attorney forgot to mention it would be a good idea to have an independent, physical test done. Once I did that the judge said if he had that info the 1st time, he would have given the okay. The Disability lasted a full year before being switched to Social Security.

I'm sorry, and I understand since struggling is also a part of our daily life here. =( Every month we are wondering the same...which bill needs to get paid and which ones can wait. We have 3 cell phones that are shut off right now. I only have 1 because with little ones I need a phone, just in case. My husbands is shut off, my daughters and my old one. :( Thank God we do have food stamps or I don't know how we would eat either. I hope the gofund me page works for you to get the help you need. I wish I could help. I wish things were so different.

I think the government wants us old people to just croak off @jaboUK . That way they wouldn't have to pay benefits of any kind. And the sad thing is is that most of us work hard all of our lives. My Lisa is one sweet kid.
