Favorite Summer Songs #10 - "Summer Breeze"

With summer weather upon us, it's time for a summer-themed series, an idea that I've stolen from @TRBRocks420, who started this. Hence, my Favorite Summer Songs, which is basically songs with summer in the title. We begin with #10: "Summer Breeze" by Seals and Crofts. The title track of their 1972 album, "Summer Breeze" was a huge hit for Seals and Crofts. The tune reached #6 on the Billboard Hot 100, as well as #6 in Canada. It also was a Top 20 hit in both New Zealand and Australia. A nice, summery groove, "Summer Breeze" has been covered many a time, notably by The Isley Brothers (fantastic,) and Type O Negative (slow and sludgy and dark,) Ray Conniff, Ramsey Lewis, George Benson and Al Jarreau, The Main Ingredient, and The Three Tenors. I went with Seals and Crofts' version because it's the original, and because it's so darn good. Another bonus, it still gets radio play on Adult Contemporary stations, which proves the song's longevity. See, I can do something mainstream once in awhile! Enjoy! (Info verified by Wikipedia)

My favorite song of theirs is "I'll Play for You," which no one remembers because they only play this song or "We May Never Pass This Way Again" on oldies stations. "Summer Breeze" is definitely a classic. BTW, Jim Seals' brother is Dan Seals, of England Dan and John Ford Coley fame.

@teamfreak16 -- "I'd Really Love to See You Tonight" and "Nights Are Forever" were their two biggest hits. If you listen closely you'll hear a lot of Seals & Crofts in ED&JFC.

@teamfreak16 -- by the way, that Type O Negative version is way out there. You'd never recognize it as the same song.

Do you like this or the Isley version? I thought their version was great, but I just had to go with the original. Can't beat it.

I have some good guesses on what you will list. There's always hot fun in the summertime when it's summer in the city.

You have one that was one of the last cuts, and one that'll appear soon.

A really great song! Also like "We May Never Pass This Way Again." If you were doing songs with the word Pass in it you would be all set
