My event may be canceled

Well, it is a little dark, cloudy, and stormy looking outside on this Friday. I had my first event for the pop-up farmer's market planned for this afternoon from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm. It was a cardio pump/line dancing class. Well, we had everything planned, flyers passed out, the info put in the newspaper, and shared on social media. After all that hard work and feeling proud and accomplished with myself for planning the event on my own it might not even happen because of rain. Maria and I talked about it and she said her instructor will be there as long as the weather permits but if they are even calling for thunderstorms we will have to postpone the event. The farmer's market itself won't even happen if there is heavy rain and a thunderstorm. I am hoping it will just blow over since we still have an hour or two before the event starts. I hate for people to show up and the event is canceled. I feel like they won't come back for any more events if this one is canceled. But then again most people don't want to workout in the rain so maybe if is looks stormy and bad out no one will show up anyway. I knew I should have included on the flyer that as long as weather permitted the event would be held.

@Nawsheen It turns out the rain stopped just in time for the event and it stayed sunny and hot while doing the event. The clouds have gathered back up though. We had a good turnout of about 7 people not including the instructor. The ladies who came out had a good time and we had a lot of people stopping and asking questions and looking at the farmer's market.

It started raining shortly after I posted this discussion. It is coming down pretty decently. The market opens at 11 am and it just turned 11 am here now. I don't know if they will open or not but I will, of course, ride over there when the time for the event gets closer just in case they open or someone shows up.

Maybe it will blow over and you can do it. I used to send over entertainment often for the Saturday morning farmers market here in Anniston but it was local music groups, they worked for free to get a spin from it, and a few did get new " paying " jobs.

It started raining pretty hard after I posted this discussion. The farmer's market won't even open itself if it is raining hard. It opens at 11 am and the rain started at 10:57 am. It has stopped now. I am going to still ride by and see if the market is open and see if the instructor will show up. I don't think she will but just in case. All of the events I plan are done by volunteers so they won't ever get paid from us and they already are coming from organizations and places that do pay them.

People would probably assume that rainy weather would cancel the thing, though. Unless there's an available alternate indoor location they're used to. I hope you find out early so that you can make other plans if you want to.

Some people aren't that bright though and there aren't any indoor places that I know of. It is currently raining pretty hard outside right now and the Farmer's market opens att 11 am and it is 10:57 am right now. I will, of course, ride up there once the time for the event gets closer in case anyone does show up or the market does open if the rain slows down. I am checking my email to see if my supervisor messaged me on the whole thing. It just sucks that the first event we get worked out and planned gets canceled because of the rain and it is the first rainy day Friday since the first day the market opened.

Can't you share on social media that it might not happen if the storms are coming.

I can but the market its self won't open if it is raining hard and it is coming down pretty go outside so when they ride by the location they will see that everything is closed. Plus since it is a weekday and people are at work they might not get to check their social media pages until their lunch break and we scheduled the event for lunch time. I will, of course, ride over there when the event time gets closer in case the market did open or anyone shows up. The market was supposed to pen at 11 but it is 11:06 now and they say they won't open with hard/heavy rain.

Sorry to hear that. Next you will remember to include in on the flyer. Those things happen. it is all a learning and you did great to put such a wonderful even together even if it does get cancelled.

I know we can't control the weather but it is kind of discouraging. You would think that people wouldn't know that if it rains the event won't continue since it is outside but not everyone thinks things all the way through. We have had sunny warm Fridays every Friday since the opening so it kind of sucks. The market itself normally opens at 11 am and it is 11:16 am now and raining pretty hard. She tells people that they will be open as along as it isn't pouring raining outside but it is coming down pretty good outside so they probably won't even open today.

Doesn't look like it. It started raining as soon as I posted this discussion. I will, of course, ride over when the event time gets closer just in case the rain stops or the market decided to open anyway.
