When buying the liquid buttermilk in half gallon or quart sizes, how long will you go past the expiration date to use it in recipes. Of course, it shouldn't be drunk 5 or more days past the date, but it could be used in recipes like corn bread or cake , at a further date past. How long would you keep it? And concerning drinking it,, I can not stand to drink it. But, my Mom and my Husband love to drink buttermilk! Anytime I am around them and they drink it in my presence, I say "Ew, yuck, how can you drink it"? And they always say to me, "you don't know what you are missing"!

I don't even like the thoughts of buttermilk, I don't drink any milk. I never go beyond any expiration date. I don't think buttermilk really ever expires, it's rotten milk...it can't get much worse. LOL. This link has all the info you need
What is the shelf life of buttermilk? Here's how long it should still be good, depending on how you want to use it, and how to tell if it's gone bad.

I simply love buttermilk but here in Latvia we have something similar which is even more delicious.
