What does being a good friend mean to you?

If you are like me you will have some good friends that you have had all your life. The friends I have today at 75 years old, I have had since I was 9 years old. That is a very long time.
I remember meeting some of them when I first moved into a new home with my mom and dad and sister. My sister was 4 years younger than me so she really didn't meet many kids her age. She just followed me around.
At that age finding new friends was very important to me as I was a social butterfly and loved being around others. Having fun was the most important thing as fitting in with the others was to.
Now, after all these years. we are still having fun even though we just move a little slower, (ok, you've got me, a LOT slower), that we did back then.
Along the way in my life I have made other friends too but will never forget my first friends in my new life.

That's amazing. A few weeks ago I stopped at a person's house and walked in and bingo. It was like 25 years had not happened. She welcomed me in just like in the old days. So much life had gone on since then but good old Margie was the same even though she'd had a stroke etc. Matter of fact and laughing all the way.

@TheInvisibleMan Lately we are losing more and more of the original group. Sadly, we are all getting older and some are more fortunate, health wise, than others. We can only take one day at a time.

I did.. but things happen and people dont hold onto friendships anymore. Instead they give up or believr rumors and find new friends.

This is a very long time. It is so amazing. Since I am the only one child in my family. I don't have brothers or sisters, so friends really mean a lot for me. In fact I pay attention to the friendship and sometimes it is sad to see some of my friends changed as time goes by.

@jstory07 That does happen in life. Some of the friends I made that moved I keep in touch on here. It is so much easier on here these days instead of writing a letter. My hands have arthritis so I try and keep writing on here to keep them from getting stiff.
