ASSAULT ON A TEACHER!

What will it be like in the year 2040 where discipline in schools is concerned? - every year it is becoming worse. Judging from all that is happening now, we may soon see teachers and students packing guns and other weaponry to protect themselves from each other. Recently I wrote about the student who was held down by three teachers - while a fourth gave him a haircut. All four teachers will face the courts in July on assault charges. This next incident I heard about, involved a female teacher. She was assaulted by two grade 10 male students who were attempting to retrieve a cellphone which she had confiscated from one of them. Other students looked on at the struggle, but made no attempt to assist the teacher who was eventually rescued by a staff member. I recall the great relief I felt when my son graduated high school without any disturbing incidents during his time there. Eight months after he left, a student was stabbed to death at the school gates by three ex students. What was high school like for you or your children? Do you recall any dangerous incidents? Mine was a breeze - I attended a Catholic all girl high school, and some of our teachers were nuns.

We fought with out fists. We did not have phones. If you hit a teacher you went to jail. If we did wrong we got a paddling by the principal . Things were simple back then

@Kandae11 They are here, the school still exists and it is as fine and problem free as it ever was. No nuns these days though, except the principal.

Me too, I went to an all girl high school ran by nuns too. No such things happened to us there. We were all so behaved when the teacher is already in the room, much more when a nun would suddenly go inside the room to observe us while teaching is being done.

Wow, that is horrific. Kids got into some fights when I was in school but mostly they made sure to do that sort of thing outside of school.

Too many ridiculous laws passed by our government. Protecting the kids thats their aim when it should be educating kids so they know how to protect themselves and to learn how to respect one another not attacking someone when you just don't like the person.

I am glad too that my 3 kids finished their high school without any dangers. But, I will be worried with the next generation, like my grandchildren in the future.

Our schools were very strict @Kandae11 , we had to wear uniforms, we had prayer at the beginning of the school day and at the end of the school day. Now adays things are changing and I am happy I don't have children in school.

School days for me and my children were way different than it is now. I and my children all attended Catholic primary and high schools and it was way before the days when schools had lockdowns and discipline problems. My grandchildren are going to school in a totally different age but so far they are doing well. I know there are school where fights etc break out all the time

I attended elementary and junior high in Texas in the "50s and had more than one fight in junior high, then moved to southern California for high school and never even witnessed a fight.

The location of the school can play a big part in the level of discipline experienced.

It has gotten so out-of-hand @Kandae11 . There is no discipline in the schools anymore and the kids know it. When I went, teachers were allowed to whip your butt with a paddle and/or stand you in a corner and then you had to go to the principal's office. It was rare that anybody screwed up. Not only that but while in the principal's office, he called your parents so you knew you were gonna get another beating when you got home.

@Kandae11 I know right? And trust me, kids aren't stupid and in most cases THEY are the ones with the upper hand.

These are different times - children could even take their parent to court for child abuse.

When I was in school, back in the stone age, there wasn't any violence from teachers or students. Well, except one. My Kindergarten teacher did slap me across the face for cheating on a test. I don't think I deserved the slap. Though it did keep me from cheating ever again.

None of my kids or grandkids had any incidents in their schools. I didn't for sure. Kids were obedient and seldom defied authority.

My sons attended a large public high school. There were incidences but not that many. They had the advantage in that if they run into trouble I was right down the hall. Some of my teacher friend's kids hated going to school where their mom taught, but my kids loved it. By 2040 all the kids will be taking their classes online. In some areas its already trending that way.

It was great that you taught in the same school. I am sure it put your mind at ease as well. My father was the headmaster of the primary school I attended with my siblings.
