A Day In June That Is Always So Anticipated !

June 19, is one date that everyone at the office is always anticipating. Why? Because it’s the birthday of our general manager! If it falls on a Saturday or Sunday, it will be celebrated in advance , on a weekday. She is the general manager of 3 affiliates, so each affiliate allots a big amount for the party , as representation expense of the general manager. So yesterday, we all celebrated it again in one of the convention halls since we are more than 100 persons in all. It was decorated with her favorite colors , pink and black as you can see in the picture. I was the emcee for the impromptu program we had for her. I made the program short because I know everyone was already hungry. When everyone has already finished eating , a video clip by one of the affiliates was shown , with some of employees dancing so funnily to an upbeat tune. Everyone had a laugh from it! Does your big boss ( your boss in the office or the boss in the house ) also gives a blowout , when it’s his / her birthday?

So your Boss shares birthday with Dr. Jose Rizal! And yes when I was working, it was like a big feast in our office when our Bosses celebrate birthday.

Yes. See, those big bosses at the offices are expected togive a blowout. Well, that is nothing compared to theirbig salaries anyway. in our case, it was justa small amount on the part of my boss, because each company shares a big amount to her birthday party.

There is not this habit here in Switzerland nor in Italy, at most there is a cake with a drink in the office after the closing hour. I also love pink a lot, but I prefer to combine it with pearl grey instead of black.

But at least there is something to partake courtesy of the celebrator. Here it has become a tradition. Me no. I am on birthday leave on my birthday, because I celebrate it with my family at home then when I go to our hometown, with my parents and siblings and their children. As for me, now that I have aged, I don't like pink in me a lot anymore. Yes, pink would be nicer indeed in pearl grey. Black is so much of a contrast for me that's why.

@SIMPLYD I still like pink, not something totally pink, but a mix of colors with grey and pink is nice. I also prefer to celebrate my birthday with my family.

We do not celebrate any birthday in office. Glad to know that you had a big celebration and enjoyed the day well. Yesterday was my elder son's birthday too (June 19).

So it's not customary there. Here, some generous officemates would also give a blowout- buy a winnowing basket of stir fried noodles, cake and some sodas and even ice cream. Belated Happy Birthday to your son! How old is he now?

My boss does not like to celebrate his birthday. In fact he is quite strict and never wants to have fun. Anyway those are some great pictures. Happy Birthday to your manager

Let's just say that here , when you are a big boss, it is expected of you. On the part of the big boss it's her way of sharing his big blessing of having the biggest salary in the company.

I am retired so I don't have that anymore, but since I worked in a rectory for a priest, we kept the celebration small, just the close workers about 5 or 6 and we went out to a restaurant. But we did the same for all of our birthdays.

That is so nice! Everybody feels loved during their birthdays. Besides giving a blowout will not be that expensive if there are only a few of you at the office.

@SIMPLYD It works out really funny, some years my daughter (b-day15th) ends up on Fathers day other years my son (b-day 19th) ends up on fathers day. We have stacked our kids over just a few months 2 b-day's in June, 3 in Sept, and 3 in Jan, only 2 of my kids get their own months all to themselves, 1 in Nov & 1 in July.

That was a wonderful party as I could see in the photo. I have not noticed that my Thai boss celebrated her birthday. Maybe I was not here but there in Pinas when she had a birthday. I only know that Thais don't usually celebrate their birthdays like we do.

And the balloons are of her two favorite color - black and pink. I chose to wear black since we were requested by the HRD to wear something with pink or black. I chose black. he he he That is nice to know. I guess bosses should do that. It's the least they can do for their staff to be shared with his /her blessings.

@SIMPLYD I find the color combination attractive, usually it would be red and black. But this one is something I don't see often. Yes, that's correct. It would also be a camaraderie for all the employees.
