Do your comments dissappear after you have posted them ?

Do you try to comment on another comment only to find that in some cases, not always, your comment vanishes? Is this a glitch? OR is it happening on purpose? Every now and then I go back to a discussion only to find that one of my comments vanished. But I do know it was there before. Is this a form of editing by the masters on high? Or is it simply a glitch?

Comments can be removed by the starter of a discussion, the responder or an admin, responses by the starter of the discussion or an admin. Last time I had a response deleted, the author of the discussion sent me a PM to tell me the reason, and I found it valid. I should not have noticed it though, and I am not sure I see it each time it happens, as we do not receive any notification when a comment or a response is deleted.

@topffer Exactly! The started of a discussion can remove any comment she/he does not appreciate. I remove all those comment left by people who tag other users to get attention.

@LadyDuck I would also report any unsollicited referral link.

@topffer If they are comments that I believe deserve to be reported I do. I did for a few today. People still use this site to post their referral for other sites, this is sickening.

I think sometimes comments are removed - if they are against the guidelines.

Yea, I understand that. But I don't go against guidelines so for that reason it must be a thing that I continue to wonder about and have no real answer for. I would think that there are a number of factors that might cause a glitch in the system, such as too many views at a time or the refresh rate of a browser. These are very real technical issues that might cause a comment to not be posted and be taken as a deliberate deletion when in fact it may very well be a technical issue.

I don't know about this glitch and my comments are available. maybe if someone else will delete their comments by themselves or on their post, that can happen maybe.

Comments can be deleted by the Admin, but also by the user who wrote the post. May be this is what happens time by time.

could be removed by the discussion starter or admin or maybe they didn't post correctly. I doubt it is a glitch or we'd all experience it.
