I really need to be more grateful for my life

My husband tells me that all the time. He says I'm spoiled which is something that I never think of myself as. I had to work through high school and college. I got a job straight out of college and have been on the clock ever since. I've read about several myLot members struggling lately. I've seen what the amounts that they are living on each month or year and the things that the government is denying them due to those meager amounts. It is outrageous that they can't get more help in their situations but I guess we can thank the Republicans for that. They will get even less help if this new Senate TrumpCare thing gets any traction. I don't think it will as like 10 GOP Senators have already spoken out against it. (It is THAT bad.) The government needs to do more to help people who genuinely need assistance and who aren't trying to scam the system. In the meantime, though, I just need to be more grateful for what I have. So what that I don't have the inground pool in the backyard that I want?

I think we often lose perspective. I have felt like I have worked long and hard for a long long time, occasional bouts of not working, but still. . . Praise God I can get a job, and it is interesting, and helpful. I may not be rich, but I am by no means poor. Many people around the world would envy me. Would envy you. You, however, are rich because you know this.

I am rich because I know this but I think I am also what most people would consider rich in other monetary senses. I read about others who don't have money for food or to go to a doctor and it just floors me.

Yes, those struggling and not scamming should be getting more help from the government. But sadly, they aren't "struggling enough" to some people to be able to

These numbers are insane. $1000 to live on for 7 people for a month?

I don't think all the blame can be placed on the Republicans.

They are the ones who keep stripping away benefits from people.

Very nice morning thought as i read your post. You must have been blessed to have a decent job out of college. But more than luck, i believe we tend to have the things that we have right now because of hardwork. And that is something to be grateful for everyday.

Well of course one should be working to support themselves but sometimes it just isn't possible. That's why the government has programs to help those who can't.

@NJChicaa good thing we have the government to support those really in need. Yet, sad to say, like in our country, the government's efforts is just not enough to reach the majority of the people in need. Plus, there are those greedy ones like you mentioned.
