Crowdfunding for Something

I am reading a lot about crowdfunding and trying my hands on it for one of my activity. Has anyone here tried or received funds via crowdfunding?
I would like to know your tips and experience of managing it. Any thoughts, comments and views are welcome.

For me it's a new field. Worldwide some people have used it with a great success. But one needs to be careful and diligent in getting crowdfunding as well as using it.
