Many parts of Europe under intense Heat and Heatwave!

While talks are on for stemming the global climate change, and treaties and steps required, many parts of Europe are facing the brunt of climate change and global warming(many parts of India also faced this in April and May, and some more areas of Asia too). I read that mercury crossed 33 Degree celsius in London. In Paris, alert was issued after it crossed 37 degrees. Italy has 39 plus in many areas. Deaths and problems reported across France, Italy and in Portugal. I even read that temperature crossed 30 degrees in some places in Alps. As per International climate watch organizations, even if temperature rise this century is capped below 2 degrees, one can expect more serious heatwaves and increasing temperatures, leading to loss of lives, productivity and loss of crop yield etc too. So time to go for planting more trees, and perhaps using less of our vehicles! Source: Times of India Website read yesterday.

That's very bad. Deforestation and pollution are the main causes of climatic changes. Due to the high temperatures many fields caught fires over here last year. And there was the recent case of the forest fires in Portugal. It is high time for us to act

Indeed. It's very hot in Europe. This doesn't convince the hard-core deniers, however, that there is a climate change at all.

I think uses of less vehicles is more important but how many people will follow this advise? All are selfish and look for own convenience than global warning or nature protection. It is high to time to educate people the significance of protecting our nature.

@Sreekala I do agree but if many of us mylotters start leading by example, it can make a difference.

I confirm we had 34 degrees Celsius in some villages in the Alps. The temperatures will drop by Monday here and in the north of Italy.

@just4him however one cannot extend caution beyond a point. We all have to go out sometime and face the temperatures or the hot winds. But we need a worldwide campaign for saving trees, sustainable development and much more.

Thats really alarming. The developed countries are been irresponsible and pointing fingers towards each other rather than doing something about it. All such summits are just namesake, hardly any concrete measures are taken. Hopefully, India should move faster towards solar and electric vehicles market to reduce the carbon footprint.

@gautaam India is moving more towards renewables. However, there are still many people who care two hoots about environment and pollution.

The global weather has become stranger. Hard to believe that it can be so hot in Europe at this moment. Even if it is just about 28 centigrades here.

But, the reports of the Geoscientists say that it is impossible to reduce the temperatures to 2 degrees in spite of using the best tools known to the scientific world.
