Today I stopped in the store which sells these tab top jackets to find out more about them. It was an interesting experience which I thought I would share. Each of these full-length coats, jackets and vests is unique. They are hand-made by a woman in Brazil. The coat sells for $400, the jacket for $200 and the vest for $160. This store primarily only sells unique, hand-made items from around the world. All their scarves are hand-painted. They have clothing from Ukraine, Spain, Italy and a variety of countries in South America. Most of their clothing, which includes hand-made and painted silk scarves, dresses, blouses and jackets, are stunning works of art ... which means they tend to be quite pricey. However, I'm sure this is one of the more popular boutiques in Laguna Beach because of the unique, beautiful artistic designs. It was fun to go into the shop with my friends and find out more about their unusual clothing!

I didn't know that they can use tabs to make clothing. The picture you used is stunning. It sounds like a lot the prices you mentioned but when you factor in how hard the woman in Brazil worked on it the price doesn't seem as bad. Wonder how she collected so many of those tabs that she used? That would be interesting to know?!

@Marty1 - I agree that a lot of work went into these items. I suppose it is possible she got her friends to save their tab tops or she got kids to collect them from a landfill. Either way, knitting them together must have been quite challenging!

@DeborahDiane I admire her knitting skills to do tabs when I could not even learn how to do one stitch decades ago as I tried to learn from my mom! Wasn't successful at all!

@Marty1 - I also admire the woman's knitting skills. I looked closely at the tiny stitches and was very impressed by the small caliber yarn and needle she used. The work was very delicate!

@mandala100 - I agree it is surprisingly elegant, considering the materials it is made from. All of the clothing in this store was very unique! It was fun to walk through.

I enjoy looking at unique clothing items, but I'm a SAKS and Neiman kind of girl in my dressing. When I travel, I tend to purchase items that are locally produced.

@DianneN - I agree. When I was in the shop, I saw a few hand painted silk scarves which were lovely and I could see myself purchasing one ... but many of the other items were a little too extreme for my tastes.

@DeborahDiane Yes, extreme is tough to look at, let alone wear. lol

@DianneN - I wish I had a good photo of the coat. I can't imagine sitting on it! It would feel so weird, plus I would be afraid it would snag everything I wore or sat on!

@just4him - It is not the most practical item of clothing, but I admire the Brazilian woman who makes them. I hope she sells a few.

Very unusual to say the least. Not expensive seeing as they are hand made either.

@lovinangelsinstead21 - Yes, a lot of work went into making those clothing items by hand. I wonder how many weeks each one takes?

Well, well, well. Some unique finds. I'm sure my sons wouldn't want to wear any of the designs above since they're for women but perhaps they're willing to make such purchases for their future wives or girlfriends. Have a wonderful rest of the evening.

@Corbin5 - You would love this store. I was amazed by the unique clothing choices. Most people would only own one or two items from the store, but whatever you buy there would be quite beautiful and unique.
