Weird Stranger Snooping Through My Facebook Profile

United States
June 26, 2017 2:16am CST
Earlier I commented on a friend's Facebook post, and shortly thereafter one of his friends liked my comment. A few moments later I was bombarded with notifications as that guy -- a total stranger -- went through my profile liking a ton of stuff I had posted. This kind of creeped me out, as I was aware that's what he was doing and that he was at that moment looking at my stuff, and I have absolutely no idea who he is. He didn't send a friend request or try to message me either, just liked a ton of my stuff and then went about his way. I thought that was a bit weird. I'm used to getting random people (usually friends of a mutual friend) occasionally liking or commenting on something I post, but have never had someone snoop through my page liking everything like that. Has that ever happened to any of you before? Did you think it was kind of creepy, or odd?

I'm not active on facebook. I live a happy, facebook-free life. So I don't have such problems. I can only recommend it.

I wish I could get rid of Facebook. It's so time consuming and is really a waste of time. I only keep it because that's how I keep in touch with most of my family and friends, but I spend way too much time scrolling through my newsfeed.

@MALUSE I really need to. I should make this my goal for the next week so I stop wasting so much of my life there!

@Srbageldog You can check on your family and friends and then leave fb for the day. Try it. It's possible!

Yes I have and when they began to PM me I blocked the chat and Poof they were gone.I had one that would send me friends request everyday, so Now I just let it hang so he cannot send another.

People are so weird. I hope this guy doesn't start trying to PM me or anything. You would think that guy who kept pestering you would have taken the hint you weren't interested in being friends when you kept deleting his request. Sounds like you are also a weirdo magnet.

How silly can one be? I have a facebook account so that I can occasionally spy on people I know. But I'm not active there. Whenever I open my account once a month or so, I'm flooded with requests to be friends with me. Why would anyone be a friend with someone who has never written anything about themselves? I'm only a name for them. And yet, they want to be my 'friend'. I can't believe it!

@MALUSE Some do it just to have the most friends. But some of the guys have read your comments to someone else they know, someone maybe close to where you say you live. And BAM! they are looking for women to hook up with. Happens everyday.

No, but I've had odd people find me and comment on my stuff. My profile is pretty private so it's not an issue I really get. I'm sure if I didn't have the privacy settings I do I'd have that happening because I'm a weirdo magnet.

Most of my personal photos and posts are set so only my friends (or a custom list of friends) can see them. Some things I post publicly because then otherwise I get people I've restricted messaging me asking if I'm OK because they haven't heard from me in a while.

I don't have Facebook but I do have an Instagram account and yes it has happened to me. I call it 'flood liking'. I do not think it is creepy at all. Perhaps, the guy just wants to get your attention.
