Q!

Friday morning, I went to the city to activate my latest visa card (that one from LBP because when I tried to withdraw last Sunday, apparently the system was not available). My sister left ahead of me at 9AM while I left at 9:45AM. Going to the bank was my only reason to go out. There was a very long queue. Two out of the 3 automated teller machines of the bank are functioning properly. The bank is located a kilometer far from the city proper, and the line was outside the bank building, so you can imagine me standing under the sun but with my umbrella, and the big trees were providing shade. Then I reached the 5th. There were some amusing instances that I saw: 1. A young lady withdrew PhP12k from the machine, but then her request was not processed. I told her, “P10k is the limit for withdrawing cash”. She tried P10k, and it was successful. Then she tried punching in another P10k. I told her, “Why not P2k only so you will have the P12k?” She did not listen, still tried P9k to no avail. The man after her said, “Why don’t you go to the bank and inquire why you cannot withdraw the P9k?” I butted in, “Why don’t you check your balance? Maybe it is below P9k now.” She did, and her remaining balance was only P1k left. She withdrew the P1k. 2. The person before me inserted the ATM card and withdrew, but we at the back, were so surprised why it was taking this person too long to get the cash from withdrawal. I talked loud, “Sir, how many ATM cards do you have?”, and the man waiting in line behind me told me, “Ma’am, she is a female”. Hahaha! The person was a female. She had short hair and was in loose tee shirt and shorts, and she had 10 ATM cards for withdrawal. It took me just a minute to do my errand. My ATM card is still active, and I withdrew a thousand pesos only. Then I went to the city proper to print a school requirement of my son but alas! There was power interruption just as when the flash drive of my son is to be inserted in the computer. I went home. I left the house at 9:45AM, I arrived home at 12noon, and my sister was not yet home. Do you get bored while queuing? Do you have some amusing incidents too while in a queue?

Do you get bored while queuing? I don't get bored as I know how to amuse myself. Do you have some amusing incidents too while in a queue? Yeah but I do not pay any particular attention to these.

I really hate Q! I am now using EON selfie-banking and rarely withdraw cash. Oftentimes I just swipe my ATM at grocery stores. And now I learned to buy things online (Lazada).

@ridingbet I only use my online earnings (mostly from Humanatic). I started shopping online when my visa cards expired glad Unionbank has new EON selfie-banking because there is no RCBC nor Unionbank in Sorsogon. I tried linking PayMaya to my PayPal account but not accepted. I don't know why my PayPal doesn't like SmartMoney and PayMaya while others have successfully linked them to PayPal.

That would drive me insane... I do all of my shopping and banking etc before 9am usually 730-830a when there are far less people out. I would not even wait in that line.. lol

yes that is a big advantage going out to our errands in early morning. we are first in line and not queue.

I have never seen queues at ATM machines here, there are many and usually no one waiting in line.

@ridingbet Most of the time I go to my bank so I am sure that I do not pay fees.

@LadyDuck that is good. here, i co not know, but other banks take a certain amount if their ATM is used for another card. maybe that is one way of how a bank earns.

that is good to know. our city is a third-class city, although there are new constructions like 2 big supermarkets. the ATM of the banks are not many, but just a couple of each. when we withdraw money from another ATM different from our bank card, there is a deduction of PhP11.

I try to avoid long lines especially at ATM's. I usually go at odd hours when I know there is not much activities.

I am very impatient and I hate waiting. However I do need to wait at times despite the fact that I find it to be annoying. I was once waiting in the queue at the supermarket and there was this lady who couldn't find her purse and she kept on searching. Unfortunately she couldn't find her purse and had to leave all the items.

That was funny friend someone withdrawing without knowing.Yes, I had last month, the lady was not able to withdraw the desired amount. many were mad and I was next to her in BDO machine. I told her, to check her balance only to know her money was not enough. She withdrew 5,000 and her money was only 3,800. She thought she can trick the machine.
