What Do We Know About the Egyptian Pyramids?

My grandson was sharing with me some things he was studying in school about the ancient Egyptians and the Pyramids. So we looked up a few things and were fascinated by some of the things we found. First of all, we did not realize that the Great Pyramid of King Khafu could fit ten football fields into its ground floor. That is truly amazing! This Great Pyramid is also one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World and the only one still standing after thousands of years. Most of what we know about the ancient Egyptians is what has been found by archaeologists who have opened up these tombs and found the coffins of Egyptian kings along with furniture and musical instruments, vases and jewelry that were buried with the kings. Many of the tombs were broken into by grave robbers and the gold and other treasures were stolen. There are still many unanswered questions about who built the pyramids and how? Where did the huge stones come from and how were they lifted to such great heights? There are many theories but none can be verified. It’s interesting that the Bible does not mention the pyramids, although the Israelites were in Egypt for 400+ years during the time of the great kings. What do you know about the pyramids? Do you live in Egypt? Have you ever been to Egypt and visited the pyramids? I have always wanted to go, but have not, as yet, traveled there.

I have never been to the pyramids and likely never will. Too dangerous part of the world.

Yes, I agree that it is just one of the many dangerous places in this world. I will never travel to Egypt either. But, I wish that I could under safe circumstances.

My husband and I have been to Egypt twice. We visited the famous sights and went by ship up the Nile to Aswan. Very impressive!
