Be Aware of Your Surroundings While Walking

Are you using your earphones or headphones while walking by the roadside? Here in the Philippines, that’s an ordinary sight. So no wonder, some got side swept, because they cannot hear the honk of a car at their back. Also at jeepneys some would be listening doing that. No wonder too , when the driver would ask whose 100 pesos (US$2.08) that he gave, is it that needs a change, he wasn’t able to hear. Thus, the driver won’t give the change unless the person asks for it when he will alight from the jeepney already. Besides, a snatcher can snatch your phone from you, especially when you are just holding your phone because you are listening to it through your mobile phone. Is this like this too in your country when it comes to usage of earphones or headphones? Note: Picture is from google

A lot of accidents happen because the person was on their cellphone. Even as a pedestrian I've been bump into by people who where too engrossed on their phone.

Indeed. They didn't know that doing that is a big attraction to snatchers.

Why do people do that, knowing the risks involved. I would say no compensation for anybody with those earphones or headphones on the road. No medical treatment either because they become the cause of another person's misery.

You are so correct with the consequences. Mostly, who do these walking with headphones are teen-agers. We should be aware of our surroundings while walking so we can hear if a car is already honking at us to go to the side.

Well, I have a close friend bumped by a car. The reason, he was wearing headphones while crossing the street. We need to be careful.

That's sad. I suppose it isn't a serious bump. Sometimes, we owe it to ourselves as to why we meet an accident. We should be discerning of when and where to use an earphone.

It's very uncommon to see people here walking using their headphones, only some students, but very few.

@SIMPLYD People are aware of danger, but also they know that if they cause an accident because they cannot hear while walking on a public road they are responsible exactly like those who drive, they are fined and they must cover the damages.

between 2 "evils", i would prefer the snatcher rather than meeting an accident because of not hearing the honking of the vehicles when you cross the streets. but generally, i will prefer safety as always. i don't use earphones when i go out to the city for errands. i keep my phone in my right front pants' pocket, not in my bag because it still can be snatched or taken by somebody

I don't prefer any of those two. Hey, Wildflower is getting nice again. But you know Arnaldo is much more good looking than Diego. ha ha ha and so with Rafa than Potpot in Pusong Ligaw. I think the second leads are mostly much better good looking. he he he

@ridingbet But ARnaldo is the most good looking to me. Yes, Rafa is so good looking and macho, so he is a martial arts enthusiast. Oh, the more that I like him.

@SIMPLYD but i like Jepoy most than the other 2, Arnaldo and Diego. jepoy is the rugged man who is more bagay to Lily than the Ardiente brothers. Rafa, according to my sister, is an active martial arts enthusiast, as evidenced by his muscular physique. i noticed his body a while agio, with his white shirt, and his arms muscles so beautiful. i thought Rafa was lean and thin because of his face. hahaha!

I think an earphone is one thing i can't live without these days. It's not that i don't recommend using it while in public places. People just have to mind things around them. Or know when or where to use it while out and about.

Yes, precisely, when there are vehicles, we should be very aware and best to just keep it so we can be aware of our safety at all times while outside. Here too, that always happens and would be in the news. But teenagers can be stubborn though. They walk with it in their ears.

Precisely. Here, texting or talking on the phone is now with a penalty when caught. We already have the anti-distraction law. Rosary should just be small as not to hinder the view in front of the driver. Cell phones must be kept in a place where it could not distract the view of the driver while traversing the road.

A person here was hit by a train because he crossed the street when the train was already blowing its horn loudly. He was unable to hear because of his headphone. It is so stupid of people to do that and yet so many are doing it as if they are addicted already.

When I was in Bangkok most of the people wore earphones. Professionals, students, etc. But I have never seen or heard anybody getting into an accident due to that. Could be that the traffic is well organized, and the means of paying in a public commute is different than here? Or could be that it's more organized there than here. This trend actually came late in our country and yet people get into accidents here and there due to that.
