the birthday girl

Once upon a time, on this day which is very nearly departed, a woman gave birth to a baby girl.
The woman's name was Mumsy, and lo, the baby girl was me.
What the woman, whose name was Mumsy, didn't know was that very many years later, at the exact moment she expelled the baby girl, who was me, from her body, that baby girl would be having her purulent pu$$y flushed at the vet.
Yes, my Qyzy has a wound {an insect bite? A bramble scratch? Who knows ...} on his head. It became infected and developed into a beautiful pus-filled abscess, so off to the animal doctor we trotted. Flushed, stuffed with antibiotics and sent home with two weeks worth of antibiotics in tablet form. And a Cone of Shame but I don't have the heart to put it on him, although I will if it becomes apparent I need to.
Poor little fellow ... he costs us oodles of pennies. It's a good job we love him, really.
I also did lots of gardening and now have the beginnings of a tranquil, country-cottage, zen-like flower bed where the pond once festered.
Then, after a wonderfully deserved afternoon nap, I drank raspberry and pomegranate vodka-cider, ate cheesecake and opened presents.
Purrfect.

A poor little fella.
We're just finishing a course of antibiotics for Hugo the Dog who has had a nasty gut infection. He seems to be prone to these things as it's the second time he's had one in the 18 months since we acquired him.
He also costs us a fortune but he's happy with us whereas he had a miserable life where he was. And that's worth far more than money!!
Hope the little fella gets better soon and Happy Birthday (although slightly belated!!).

Thank you!
Qyzy costs us a fortune. If he hasn't got cystitis, he's got something else! On the other hand, Dora doesn't cost us a penny usually, so it all balances out.

@Poppylicious Just as long as Dora doesn't get jealous and develop Munchausen's syndrome just to get some attention!!

@WorDazza I wouldn't put it past her ... she can be a bit of a minx sometimes.

@Poppylicious very true, I think my mum spent as much on the pets as she did raising me at times

He seems quite happy, and the wound still looks clean today so - *fingers crossed* - he's on the mend. :)

Thank you. Hmmm, a rosebush my Baby Brother and his partner gave me, a pretty plant Mumsy bought me, four little shrubs which should grow nicely to hide the wall, and lots of wildflower seeds. I'm hoping they take! I want the country cottage, fairly low-maintenance garden!

I have the cone ready ... I'm worried he's starting to scratch at it now, as I imagine the scab will begin itching. I think the antibiotics are doing their job though! And all the best daughters are born on my birthday!
