I Hate When They Do This

The maintenance man was supposed to come by this morning to install a new smoke detector and replace our bathroom fan. He said he would be here "sometime before 11 a.m." It is now noon and he has not shown up. I HATE when maintenance guys do this. I guess they think we have nothing to do all day but sit around and wait for them whenever they finally decide to show up. I get maybe he's running late, but if that's the case he should have called. I am beginning to think he has forgotten about me. And I am especially ticked since I have not gotten any sleep yet. I was up all night working on a big writing project and figured I'd just stay up until after he came and did what he has to do. So of course he is taking his sweet time getting here. I am few hours away from being up for 24 hours straight. I can't stay awake all day...I need to sleep eventually! It sucks when you work the graveyard shift and stay awake for a morning appointment with the maintenance guy, only to have him not show up when he said he would. And I know when he gets here he won't be prepared; he'll pop in, look at the bathroom fan and then have to run out to the store to buy a replacement (despite the fact a lady was already here and took a picture of it.) I am tempted to call the rental company and complain. Or tape a note on the front door saying "Sorry, you didn't show up when you said you would and I can't wait around all day. You'll have to arrange to come back later." But then I'll have to deal with this all over again on some other day.

He finally came back around 3 p.m. and got it finished. But it is annoying that he didn't come when he originally said he would and then wasn't prepared to fix anything.

@vsai2008 Yes, for now. I will see him again in the future I'm sure, as he has been the maintenance man the entire time I've lived here (9 years now.) Sometimes he is friendly and sometimes he is mean and rude. Today was one of his better days, at least, so I didn't have to deal with a rude attitude.

He should have called if he was going to be late. Maybe call them?

He finally came by but he didn't replace the burned out bathroom fan. He said he MIGHT be by later to replace it. So who knows when that will be.

@Courtlynn He ended up coming around 3 p.m. and replaced the bathroom fan. So what was supposed to be a morning appointment took all day, at least for me.

He finally came, wasn't even here five minutes and left. He didn't fix the fan and said he MIGHT be back by later to replace it...like I have nothing better to do than sit up waiting to see if he decides to come back!

@TiarasOceanView No, I always clam up when having to deal with people unfortunately. I wish I could speak up and say "no, that won't work."
