I Hate When They Do This

The maintenance man was supposed to come by this morning to install a new smoke detector and replace our bathroom fan. He said he would be here "sometime before 11 a.m." It is now noon and he has not shown up. I HATE when maintenance guys do this. I guess they think we have nothing to do all day but sit around and wait for them whenever they finally decide to show up. I get maybe he's running late, but if that's the case he should have called. I am beginning to think he has forgotten about me. And I am especially ticked since I have not gotten any sleep yet. I was up all night working on a big writing project and figured I'd just stay up until after he came and did what he has to do. So of course he is taking his sweet time getting here. I am few hours away from being up for 24 hours straight. I can't stay awake all day...I need to sleep eventually! It sucks when you work the graveyard shift and stay awake for a morning appointment with the maintenance guy, only to have him not show up when he said he would. And I know when he gets here he won't be prepared; he'll pop in, look at the bathroom fan and then have to run out to the store to buy a replacement (despite the fact a lady was already here and took a picture of it.) I am tempted to call the rental company and complain. Or tape a note on the front door saying "Sorry, you didn't show up when you said you would and I can't wait around all day. You'll have to arrange to come back later." But then I'll have to deal with this all over again on some other day.
