All the World Needs Is More Seafood!

You've probably heard the joke about being on a Seafood Diet- When you see food- you eat it--haha! Well, I could probably be on a real Seafood Diet. I love it all- Lobster, Crabmeat, Scallops, Shrimp (especially Black-Tiger Shrimp), Mussels, Clams and Oysters. Can't quite eat the Oysters raw though- and keep thinking they can be dangerous to eat if you get a bad one, so therefore usually eat Oysters cooked. Unfortunately, treats like Lobster tails are expensive but I have bought them and cooked them myself or I would order it on special occasions. I just went out for our anniversary dinner and splurged and had a lobster tail with a small steak! Very satisfying and my husband ordered the same. It really was a treat but I secretly wished I could have had two lobster tails instead. The great-tasting lobster here is from the cold Atlantic and very delicious, but I have had lobster from other places, too. Not everyone loves Seafood- How about you and what's your favourite?

I enjoy Salmon or Halibut or Sole, but don't eat any of the shellfish. On our honeymoon my husband and I both had a severe case of food poisoning as a result of some tainted seafood. No desire for a repeat performance.

All those you have mentioned, i love them! I do eat raw oysters even though I know it could be dangerous. I take the risk. They're simply delicious.

I love seafood, but it is very expensive here in Switzerland, because we have no sea or ocean and everything is imported. I buy quite often frozen Black-Tiger Shrimps that I prepare myself at home, I also buy frozen scallops.

Mostly our shrimp are frozen and although Ontario is far from the ocean we get a good supply of lobster from our East Coast and it is wonderful. Anna- Black Tiger Shrimp are- in my mind- the absolute best-tasting shrimp and I love scallops- seared on both sides and served with lemon and garlic sauce- delish!

@MarymargII I always buy shrimps and scallops frozen. Lobsters are imported only around Christmas.

@LadyDuck how do you prepare your shrimp/scallops in Switzerland? Do you eat them with rice? pasta? or in a stir fry? Also do you like the imported lobster? I love it, as I said.

@MarymargII - We do have "spiny lobster" here in California, which is smaller than Maine lobster. It tastes good. However, all the top restaurants fly in their lobster from the East Coast and keep them alive in large tanks until they are prepared for someone's dinner.

All would be perfect, wouldn't it? Where does most of your lobster come from in California- the East Coast, Deborah?

@DeborahDiane Yes, those are the absolute best- even Europe and Asia are importing them as a delicacy- hope the ocean can keep producing them for all of us--ha! Excellent taste. I never heard of spiny lobster but would probably love it too as I love Caribbean lobsters too.

@MarymargII sinigang is a Filipino dish , with water crest, eggplant, string beans, white raddish and your choice of meat, well in this case seafood. It has a sweet, spicy and soury taste.

I love crabs and prawns most. Although, we seldom buy them, because they are so expensive here. Besides, they can raise your cholesterol and be a cause for your blood pressure to rise (my husband has high blood), so we seldom eat them. Though, when hubby and I eat out, we would sometimes order crabs and prawns. I love that -Seafood diet joke. See food and eat it.

@MarymargII Actually with the crab, the yellow orange thing on the sides of its shell, which is the fat of the crab can really raise one's cholesterol and bp if you eat those. Same with the prawn which has those at its head.

All delicious- I always thought prawns were just big shrimp but they actually are a separate species but related. No crayfish/lobsters in New Zealand? Would be warm water ones I know.
