children several years apart or close together in age? what do you think?

i liked having mine quite a few years apart (9 and 2) and i plan on waiting a couple more years before having my last one!.. i see both sides here ... im just curious.. i prefer to have them farther apart becuase i can spend so much time with them as babies during the day and not feel overwhelmed.(not that i NEVER do but just in general) but i know some kinda want to get them all outta diapers at once type of thing.. what do you prefer?
