Time to think Out of the Box

Out of the Box

We trudge through life and some fall by the wayside before their time meaning their lives cut short abruptly. Most have a herd mentality; fall in line, not to upset the apple cart. Thankfully, we are fine in most parts of our heavenly planet though some are in hell too. We experience all facets of creation even individually. Occasionally, we hear about those who think out of the box and that make us admire how they pulled it off. Individually, we do have few such instances to savor but mostly we toe the line; life is humdrum. Seeing the issues of our world, is it not time to think out of the box especially in the way we “coexist”? In fact, we just manage to by the skin of our teeth! I think aloud about issues that can change our course for a better world to even lead us to the doorstep of heaven while still alive! 1. The parameters of success should not be material possessions. What we don’t require, share it with others for the simple reason we cannot take anything from here! 2. Big powers should show their mettle and work towards peace and not think of doing it through wars. 3. Let our beliefs stay private or shared with like minded. All are divinely inspired. I am more eclectic and accept all but with a grain of salt! 4. All should have equal rights not depending on which country one is from. And there should be noninterference in another country’s internal affairs. It is better that present borders are accepted to reduce claims and counterclaims. Sooner or later we will come to the realization that we cannot annihilate others and the heat of intolerance will become more and more unbearable putting the effects of climate change to shame! There should be no wishful thinking as there is no magic bullet but only nuclear weapons in abundance! I quote Stephen Hawking “Intelligence is the ability to adapt to change” It is time we did to survive! What are your views to turn the corner? Image from Wikimedia Commons

There is nothing much one person can do, that is why we elect a government to handle the countries affairs. As for me I am pretty much accepting of people. Success for me can mean material things BUT to help me and others at the same time, like own a business and I get paid and provide something needed.

Thanks for your comment. Yes, we expect elected governments to carry out the agenda based on which they were elected but the poor in many countries are still left to hope against hope for a better future while the gap between the rich and them gets wider by the day. If democracy means the will of the majority, it does not seem to happen. What I meant was material possessions alone should not define us as I find we are led to go after them as the be all and end all of life. This sets off a mad race with media often highlighting who is the richest as if they are the greatest. This is more grating in poor countries that also have billionaires competing to reach even higher in the list - siva

I think outside the box all of the time. Things work better when I figure it out my way.

I do agree that success isn't measured by all the material possessions we have nor by the nice job that we are having. It is when our family is always living harmoniously together, that I can say that I succeed in life.

Yeah, balance in our lives gives us fulfillment. Many forget this and put all their eggs in one basket and get carried away. Material possessions are only a means to an end - happy family life - siva

You've done a great post here Siva, and you've pinpointed intolerance as being one of the worst hindrances to a peaceful world.

Thanks Jabo, I like to think aloud though few may take it as just a cry in the wilderness. Though I have been fairly blessed in life I feel in my heart that most suffer due to no fault of theirs; they are played out time and time again, generations after generations. And I just cannot understand why sell arms to those who cannot even afford a square meal a day. And the hypocrisy in relegating love in our actions when it underpins all beliefs - siva

I would have to say, us humans, silly lot of the bunch, thinking ourselves somehow superior to all other life forms, need to be prepared for change because our survival and the life of all species on this planet are in jeopardy so we need to be willing to change and adapt if we are to actually live outside the box. That would mean, peace not war, common ground, not divergence and mutual cooperation on a global level as never before, in spite of our petty differences.

You have hit the nail on its head, thanks for sharing. If the big powers cooperate peace will be the outcome that will benefit the 99% except the 1% who make money out of perpetuating wars. Now whoever we elect, the boss remains the same - greed and pride. When they dictate our agenda, our creator will stay away from our self-created cesspool. There is a shortcut which we do not want to take - live and let others live. Everyone knows what has to be done but the few hold us to ransom - siva

Do not only live within the darkness of your mind
I will add a response, not so much out of the box, but more from left-field.... Why think out of the box? Why think at all? It is thinking that has caused all of our problems. Is this true? How do we turn this corner? Is it necessary for us to do so as a group anyway, or individually so? The emptiness of thought must be replaced by the fullness of heart felt knowledge, alive in that truth of itself. The mind can never know such a truth, and it is always blind to it, no matter how it thinks, in or out of its box. We must turn the corner of our own lives, and not worry too much about where the other person, or even the group that we are in, is turning it from, or going via it to. All life is a loneliness of love, living in you alone. We are all on our own individualised journey, whilst though, retaining the connections to the infinite, from this love, not from any of our own thinking of wanting to do this, which our mind alone can never figure out how to do, anyway. All is well, all goes well, all ends well in the end for you, if you follow love. Let love take care of the rest, and let your own head not think about these things that only distract you from what love is doing underneath of it all. All of this thinking leads to nothing, but to headaches for you. There is a beautiful passage in the Christian bible where Jesus tells us this. This passage is from Saint Mathew's gospel, chapter 11, verse 28 to 30. “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” And so it is, for all those who follow love, or follow Jesus, in this way. We become weary from overthinking about our lives. Trust love, trust God, and do not worry too much about anything else, besides.

@Shiva49 Thanks, siva. Nicely put. "People are always looking for the single magic bullet that will totally change everything. There is no single magic bullet." Temple Grandin, an American Professor said this. Love perhaps comes closest to this, but obviously, on its own, even love is not enough. That's why God created his creation. Love needs something to love, and God needs also to be loved. God is that love. Love is that God.

@Shiva49 I have heard it said that we cannot prevent, or avoid all pain in our life, but if that causes us to avoid love, joy and happiness too, we then are the cause of that extra pain. We should not avoid the joy, the love, or the happiness because of other unavoidable things in our lives.

@innertalks Our love should know no bounds. Sadly, we have created many divisions, ring-fenced ourselves from others, thus accentuating schisms that metamorphose into intolerance. Live and let others live is the foundation for love to thrive but that attitude comes with wisdom and awareness, acceptance of unity in diversity. Now we see enemies even in our shadows with indiscriminate killings of even children, babies in arms. The love that is everywhere in creation is sadly missing in our hearts though individually we swear by it, but we overlook in our interactions - siva
