Can a local Astrologist really make a living in the Astrological Field?

I am very interested in becoming an Astrologist in my community.
I feel that, with the proper understanding of the subject, we can use astrological information to help others understand their Life Path. This can also aid in counseling situations; to help us better understand our selves; as well as others.

I don't know about the employment aspect, what about self employment. Starting your own business?
