FOREVER LOOKING.

Have you found the man or woman of your dreams yet - your ideal mate? And what qualities are you looking for in that person? It is a fact that "time waits for no man" or woman for that matter - so as the years roll by, will you keep on waiting for that ideal or settle with whoever is available?. I wonder if those who decide to 'settle' will be satisfied with their life or feel cheated. Even though married, will they be forever still looking?

Ditto. Once you reach a certain age like me, you just don't care anymore.

I have my own high standards, but I fall in love with random people, so I don't really wait for the prince charming. If the relationship goes well for some time, then I can marry. And later ask for divorce.

Since there are no perfect people, I think it's foolish to wait for that perfect mate to come along. That doesn't mean to settle for someone you don't like, but if there are qualities about the person you like and find attractive, give him/her a chance.

The person I married turned out to be not so ideal. I guess you would say I settled on what was available. I wish I hadn't, but then I wouldn't have the wonderful kids I do.

That is the way many of us would see it. Something special did result from the union - our kids.

Life is a process of adjustment and changes. You need not keep looking for your perfect partner even after you have one.

What you are saying is that - after we take our marriage vows, we should work with what we have and not still be on the look out.

For me, there is no ideal person, but characteristics in common and things we would probably agree in life. This will be a first step to know another person. We are all different and what I've seen so far is that many citizens keep waiting or looking for the ideal man/woman, but they don't realize it is almost (but really almost) crazy and difficult to find. Our complex head sets hundreds and hundreds points in our check list for a nice partner in crime, but once people don't check one or two, they give up. Is this also right? To be so demanding, set almost impossible quality standards and be lonely? I am not saying we have to settle with every one that crosses our way, the thing is we should consider observing and learn with the other, even if some topics are not matched. If everyone start looking for Prince(ss) Charming, I wonder what Willem Dafoe would think about it!

Most people these days settle. Because everybodys either got something wrong with them or has a bad past. Etc. Noones perfect or even close. So we should just be happy if someone loves us and gives us a good feeling, and can keep our interest, even if it doesnt last for years or get to marriage.
