Now I am 86 - Then I was 8 - I was awakened this morning by the noises from the great-grandkids, the doggies, and my bride hollering at me to get my old bones out of that nice, comfortable bed. Some days are like that, right? But today was a wee bit different, too. For some reason an old tune was playing up there 'twixt my two ears. I kept hearing some of the words to the song, too. "Little Sir Echo, how do you do? ..." Some of the melody was right there, as well. That gave me reason to briefly remember another old song or two, but the "Echo" song hung right in there. I couldn't dump the silly tune nor the few words I was recalling from its lyrics. So, when I fired up "Old Dellie" (my ancient Dell-brand computer) right now, I headed straightaway to the search engine and entered the words, "Sir Echo." Much to my surprise, the screen filled up with "Echo" song stuff - one batch after another. It seems as though I was just a little kid when that song hit the radio back then. It must have been really a popular tune at the time - either that or it was about the only song being sung back then. I was all of 8-years-old when Bing Crosby got after it - but, back then, I did not much care who was singing that "Little Sir Echo" song. Obviously, I must have really liked the song, otherwise why would it be topmost in my head on this morning when, now I am 86-years-old. Time now for my cup of wake-up coffee and a shout-out to Little Sir Echo - whereever he may be. Image: Yodeler - Pixabay.com

@TiarasOceanView - Well, I did somehow manage to keep "Sir Echo" in my upstairs pocket, but there were some others that the old radio provided. One song that stuck in my mind for years was one the words of which I remember confusing back in the day. I cannot right now recall the name of that song, but I think that it was something like "The Umbrella Man." The way I heard the words was sort of like, "Do you have any "umbarrella toothpicks today?" Actually the words were (most likely) "Do you have any umbrellas TO FIX today?" Makes me laugh to think back on that one... -Gus-

@JohnRoberts - Brother John - I have gained the idea that I probably saw a sufficiency over the years. The times were quite eventful. As to having had good fortune in the work assigned to me, I was very lucky to have been 5 or 6 years a part of "Project Apollo," the moon shot deal, in the astronaut selection medical evaluation aspect. As I recollect, we processed several hundred astronaut candidates, some of whom made the trips. Now, there was a bunch of brave souls, even the ones who did not make the final cuts. -Gus-

@louievill - Time flies -sometimes on high and other times it drags the ground. Songs seem to occupy a middle altitude, but in this instance, the "echo" was up there around head level. -Gus-

@bluesa - Yes. It seemed strange to me that I woke up with that old tune in my head. That's the way life can be at times - strange. -Gus-
