Songs With "Gold" In The Title- Golden Moments

These songs are some favorites of mine and the artists/groups are solid gold in my book! Here are 5 "golden chestnuts" from the 60's and 70's. Here are the clues: 1. This Canadian singer-songwriter was a member of Buffalo Springfield. He often recorded with a group of 3 musicians who took the name "Crazy Horse." This song was the only #1 hit of his career. 2. This trio met and formed a band when their Air Force fathers were stationed in London, England. Their three part harmonies were reminiscent of Crosby, Stills and Nash. The song reached # 1 in 1975. The song was inspired by the work of Jackson Browne. 3. This song was written by one of the woman in this highly successful 70's band. The title term "Gold Dust" was a reference to cocaine. This tune was on the 1977 smash album that reached # 1 on the charts in America for 31 weeks. 4. The song was part of a climatic medley on their 1969 album. This tune was followed by the song "Carry The Weight" and the tracks were recorded together. The groups album cover showed these artists walking across a now famous English road and they used this name for their album title. 5. The group was signed by Decca Records in 1962 who were looking for a "Beat" group. They were chosen over a group later dubbed the "Fab Four" because their geographic location was a better fit than their English competitors. This tune was a cover of the 4 Seasons version, and it scored a # 1 hit in 1967 for this band, who started recording in a more contemporay style. Songs: 1. Heart of Gold 2. Sister Golden Hair 3. Gold Dust Woman 4. Golden Slumbers 5. Silence is Golden Know the artists/bands? Any comments, personal preferences in gold titled songs, or other facts are always appreciated. And as always...Oh yes, Thanks for playing! Source: Wikipedia

And here I was, hoping you'd use "Gold" by John Stewart (one-time member of the Kingston Trio and the man who wrote the Monkees' "Daydream Believer"). It was a good-sized hit, thanks in no small part to the lady who wrote song #3 singing back-up on the song.

Wow, big oversight on my part That definitely should of been on the list. "Gold" is such a good song and Stevie singing background vocals. I am beside myself for omitting that one

My problem is I can never remember which artists did which song (other than the Beetles and a few I followed closely). I remember Green Tambourine - obviously not gold, but hey - it's a color. Don't ask who sang it. Without looking it up, I couldn't tell you. I don't even recognize these titles except Heart of Gold and I even think I'm wrong on that because the one I'm remembering was sung by a woman. You'd think someone who played in the HS marching and concert bands would be better with songs, huh?

Great response! "Green Tambourine" was recorded by a group called The Lemon Pipers. Nice tune too. My theory is you were to busy practicing your notes to focus on who wrote all these songs, ha. Oh yes, there is a Beatles song on this list # 4 It was on the Abbey Road album.

That's a lot of gold to know isn't it 2. America 3. Fleetwood Mac 4. The Beatles 5. The Tremeloes ( a real Golden Oldie, lol)
The Tremeloes are an English rock and roll band, founded in 1958 in Dagenham, Essex. The Tremeloes are one of the longest surviving, still playing regularly ...
