Blueberry pancakes - YUM!!

Blueberries in the batter, not made into syrup. That's how I like them!!

On of the benefits of my daughter working for a produce import company is that she gets to bring home fresh fruit or vegetables periodically. Most of them are organic, so no pesticides, etc. She recently brought a case of blueberries home. Biggest darned blueberries I'd seen in quite a while. Originally I thought I'd make blueberry jam or preserves, but I just never got around to it. Meanwhile, she froze a few pints to make herself smoothies. I started eating just the berries when I was hungry and didn't feel like cooking. It had been a long time since I ate fresh blueberries. I used to pick huckleberries as a kid and they look and taste quite a bit like blueberries. I decided last night I wanted blueberry pancakes and my daughter took the last pint upstairs with her. But, then she said to use the ones she froze. "Oh yeah!!" And, that's what I did. I had two thick pancakes for a late dinner last night and just had two this morning for breakfast (well, brunch since it's after 12). I so enjoyed them!! I just might make more later today!!

Kinda sorta. I used complete "add water" pancake mix and added the blueberries. They were really good.

@kobesbuddy I've tried making my own. I'm just not that good at it. LOL So, I get creative with someone else's talent!

What beautiful memories we share, picking wild blueberries as kids! My father use to drive a van load of us out into National Forest, with buckets to fill. The smell in the air was amazing! Little did we realize, we were dabbling in the wild, 'black bears' food supply! LOL

That sounds like fun!! Better you didn't know and they probably wouldn't have bothered you anyway if they weren't used to humans.

@jerzgirl I've been living in Michigan almost 66 years and never once have I seen a black bear, out in the wild! They are timid animals, that only get aggressive if they are being threatened or injured in some way.

@kobesbuddy I figured that. Unless there's a food shortage for them or they've got young to protect, they don't generally bother anyone.

They look delicious. I am a chocolate chip pancake person myself. I made a pancake the other day but did not look like the one here in the picture. I know this is from July, but I made mine not too long ago. I got home late so did not want to fuss in making one. I ate garbage instead that I know is not good for me.

I eat garbage way too often! LOL I loved having the blueberries to add to the batter. I could have stirred them into the batter, but I dropped them into the pancake after I poured it into the pan. Just basic batter with blueberries dropped into it. My daughter gets them from work.

@Hannihar I don't like melted chocolate. I won't even eat warm chocolate chip cookies. I love blueberry pancakes, but I never buy blueberries, so when she brought home a case from work, I stared eating them by themselves and in pancakes. I don't like strawberries, so I won't try that. I haven't tried bananas, but I do like them sliced with milk and sugar, but blueberry pancakes I enjoy a lot.

@jerzgirl Do you also like chocolate chip pancakes or is it always blueberry because your daughter gets them from work Wendy?

I know. I don't want bananas or strawberries, but apples (with cinnamon) or blueberries I like. IN the batter, not poured over top like a syrup.

They look so good. We cannot get good blueberries here and when they show up at market they are expensive so you're lucky your daughter can get them for you.

Yes - I'll have to be more proactive with her next "delivery" so that I can enjoy more of what she brings.

I got some a while back during a road trip to New England. Funny thing was, it wasn't even made in New England!!! Still, it was good. But, I used it sparingly because I usually use sugar-free. I just added a little to that to up the flavor factor.
