The Cannonball Run

In director Hal Needham's 1981 comedy, The Cannonball Run, J.J McClure (Burt Reynolds) and Victor Prinzi (Dom DeLuise) are participants in a cross country race, The Cannonball Run. As J.J. and Victor (who has an alter ego named Captain Chaos) race across the country disguised as paramedics, in a souped up ambulance, they have plenty of competition. Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr. are dressed as priests and driving a red Ferrari, Roger Moore playsa man convinced he is actually Roger Moore, driving an Aston Martin equipped with all sorts of James Bond gadgets, and Jackie Chan and Michael Hui drive a high tech Subaru. Other competitors include Terry Bradshaw and Mel Tillis, Jamie Farr, and Adrienne Barbeau and Tara Buckman. Cheating and dirty tricks abound as each team tries to gain an edge. The Cannonball Run is a silly film, not to be taken seriously (I mean, Dom DeLuise spends a good amount of time in his Captain Chaos persona, superhero costume and all.) Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr are great, and Jackie Chan gets to show off his martial arts prowess I during a brawl. (Fun Fact: Burt Reynolds didn't like the movie and claims he did it as a favor to Needham.) The Cannonball Run isn't the greatest movie you're going to see, but it is full of laughs, not to mention some great race footage and some fun stunts.
