Created by Robert Pirosh, Combat! was an action drama about a squad of American Infantrymen fighting their way through France during World War II. The show, which ran from 1962 to 1967, starred Rick Jason as Lt. Hanley, and Vic Morrow as Sergeant Saunders. Each week, the two stars split which one would be the main character, and receive top billing. The cast of Combat! was rounded out with Pierre Jalbert as Caje, Jack Hogan as Kirby, Dick Peabody as Littlejohn, and, as Doc, Steven Rogers (season one,) and Conlan Carter for the duration. Combat! had, like, a zillion guest stars during that five years, including heavy hitters such as Lee Marvin, Robert Duval, James Caan, and John Cassavetes. The producers were constantly getting requests for guest starring roles, as it was said that guys wanted to wear a uniform and crawl and roll around in the dirt and mud. It was, as Dick Peabody once said, the most realistic portrayal of the American foot WWII foot solder in television history. (Band of Brothers were technically in the airborne.) If you are a fan, Combat! Historian Joe Davidsmeyer has a book out called Combat! A Viewer's Guide to the WWII TV Series. It's a great companion to the show, as she breaks down every episode. Hopefully, you live in an area that shows the series in syndication. (Info verified by Wikipedia)

I had watched almost all of that when I was a kid, I remember Rick Jason and Vic Morrow interchange every weekly episode. The theme background music is also something I will never forget.

It's a pretty old show. I have no idea if it ever aired outside of the United States.

I used to watch Combat when I was a kid. Robert Altman directed a number of episodes.

That's right, he did. He directed the one I started watching last night, in fact.
