Four miles today, according to the pedometer on the phone. I'm walking away from that weight! Here's another one of the songs on my exercise playlists that get my feet moving and my heart pumping. Down, Down, Down - Rose Maddox I may have mentioned before, but Rose Maddox is my favorite female country singer. That's right. Not Patsy. Not Loretta. Not Tammy. Rose Maddox and her brothers stormed onto the west coast music scene in the 40s and set the pace for a lot of things that were to come in country music (and in rock and roll: you can definitely hear the genesis of rockabilly in some of their music). After the band broke up Rose had her own solo career and did duets with Buck Owens. This song, written by the great Tommy Collins, is one of my favorites. It's got a great, upbeat tempo and is a fun song to walk to, to dance to, or to lift those five-pound weights (hey, I'm just starting, okay? ) to! Down, Down, Down Written by Tommy Collins Recorded by Rose Maddox From Sings Bluegrass, 1962 Here's a live country version of the song (which I tend to prefer over the bluegrass version):
ROSE MADDOX Down Down Down Carl's Corral 1960)

I could see listening to it as motivation during a walk. It's certainly upbeat enough.
