As time goes on it really doesn't appear as if too many writers take writing seriously. Some seem to be writing for fun. There are still some who wish to be taken seriously as a writer. If there are any plan to take writing to the next level then there should be some seriousness. Writers should be passionate about their craft. For some they've dabbled with writing as a hobby and some have discovered how "rewarding" writing can be. Not every writer will think that writing should be taken seriously. Some may not want to aim higher when it comes to writing. With all of the madness surrounded by writers being overly competitive perhaps some have chosen to not be serious at all. There are some writers who continue their "journey" and who continue to write books. Even short story writers will be serious. Of course writing doesn't always have to be about being serious. There should be some fun when it comes to writing. The key to becoming a better writer is to love writing. No matter what others have to say there should be a continuous process of learning. Some writers end up leaving their craft and may venture back to find that "writing" isn't the same. Too many writers have fallen into a dark world where writing is about sabotaging other writers. It would be nice to see the writers who actually cared about the craft and were considered of other writers. "I'm a writer and no matter how many critics try to fill my ears with their criticism . I'm continuing the journey." by: (Tanikka Paulk)

That is what happened with the internet. Anyone, literally anyone, can call themselves a writer.

And lots of people don't spend as much time on their writing because of its bad, they'll just delete it later and write something new. Unfortunately, this just leads to a lot of bad writing.

There's a lot of serious writers out there doing good work (some who do it for fun make good ones too, sometimes...). The problem is just that most of the works out in the internet aren't good.

Great post. I guess the best writers out there are the ones who really put the time and effort in their writing.

Today with Internet anyone and everyone can say they are an expert at something. They can even say they are a writer. However, the proof isn't in what they say it is in what they have written. I guess if you can stumble your way through the maze of errors and mistakes you can reach the end. I get tired and give up.

There are some serious writers out there. The internet has opened up the network to many different type of people and enabled many to call themselves writers.

I think some of them focused on their lives. I heard that some of them focused on making their own books.
