Almost every single day in the past week or two, my daughter's dog Tucker has made it a goal to tear open the trash bag I hang on the top desk drawer. He knows he's guilty because he will hide out and wait for me to yell when I come down the stairs to find it, his ears flat and tail down. He runs into her room and jumps on his bed laying down flat. I know right away he's done something. I'm so frustrated. It's not because he's hungry because there are times when the bag is empty with no napkins from a meal or empty fast food containers. It almost always happens right after she leaves for work in the morning. But, it happened again this morning when she came down to get breakfast and feed him. No rhyme or reason. Just pure maliciousness. Yes, I could eliminate having the bag there entirely, but there's no room for an actual trashcan, so the bag is convenient and easy to put in the main trash. There is also one in the kitchen next to the sink, yet he doesn't touch that one. It's just plain maddening.

At first I thought it was a particular scent of the trash bag itself @jerzgirl but if he's not touching the one in the kitchen, then that's not it. Hopefully he's not ingesting any of bag itself because that can be very dangerous (it can twist the intestines).

There are times when I do believe the scent plays a role, but not always. Sometimes it's just pure anger and misbehavior.

I think he likes whatever attention I'll give him - even if it's negative. I like him, but I'm a cat person and he knows it. LOL

Maybe Tucker should go to dog obedience school to learn to not do that or be taught that he will be punished if he continues to do it. What does he like that could be taken away from him if he continues to do it?
