Invited to posh houses Jessica or rather "Decca" as they called her, would together with her husband, Esmund, rifle any small thing they could to supplement their income. There is even a story of her trying to cut down some curtains. Then, close to their departure to live in America they and others got into Eton School and stole a large number of top hats from the pegs in the cloakroom. Esmund sold these to a second hand clothes dealer. I think this beats Unity Mitford taking her pet rat, Ratular into debutante balls. She also sometimes took her snake.
