Cooking More Than One Meal

Yesterday Tony wanted ribs so I ran by pic & save and he picked out two sides of ribs, yes I mean the one package contained two whole sides. And he wanted chicken salad so I bought a package if chicken breast. And he wanted hamburgers, so I bought that too. And you guessed it, I cooked all three today, well this evening. I have the ribs cooling, he had a hamburger this evening and I have the chicken cooked and ready to make the chicken salad. I will actually made me a bowl of chicken salad for tomorrow as well, and I froze 8 hamburger patties for future burgers. As for the ribs he will have eight meals cooked and sauced, all I will have to do is heat it up, make a couple veggie sides and I am done. Do you ever prepare for other meals for the days you are so busy but still have to feed someone? And yourself.

Yes I do. My meals are simple, much simpler now as it is rice and beans..I do all sorts of things with that and cook it up for a couple days. I do not eat meat now except for chicken now and again and fish now and again. I am doing okay on that. You do so good Andria with all the food prep.

Yes, I do cook meals in advance. It is a great way to save time. Whenever I'm hungry, I just pop one in the microwave and I'm all set.

I used to do a lot of cooking and would make extra to freeze. This worked great for when my husband came home at lunch time. I always made extra chili, ham and beans and spaghetti sauce. Now I do make a kittke extra even though it is just me. It sure helps on those busy days.

@andriaperry I wanted bacon this morning and was only going to cook a few pieces. I changed my mind and cooked it all. Now it is ready for whenever I want some.

The reason for cooking the ribs is I dont always have 2 hours to cook them.

Yes I do, I have started doing freezer meals too. When I have the oven on I now always make things to fill the whole oven and then freeze it. School days are so rough that I need to get more in the freezer.

I do this all the time especially in the summer, so I don't have to cook when it is hot. We are do a lot of bbq so that is day by day.

LOL. My kids are all grown now but I can imagine the scenario. 11 growing kids who are always hungry? If I prepared 3 meals on the same day, they would eat them all on the same day!

Depending on what I'm making I do like to prepare extra and freeze dishes to have onhand for later days.

@andriaperry has nothing to do with being home. As I'm not home much at night, which is when most of the cooking gets done. And even when my mom did all the cooking and worked, she had food freshly made when we were ready to eat. Not days before.
