Crossing the Rainbow Bridge

Today we are broken hearted. The tears continue to fall.
Our beloved Fifi has crossed the rainbow bridge.
For months we have known this was inevitable, but today was the day.
She should not have been so eager to jump into the van.
We cried as we carried her into the quiet room.
She fell asleep on my lap.
We will miss you, my beautiful friend.

i am so sorry for your loss. i get misty reading your post, and seeing her in the picture. rest in peace Fifi.

Thank you for your kind words. It was a tough day....my oldest daughter invited us to dinner. A change of scene was a good idea.

@cacay1 i know that. maybe Fifi already wanted to cross the rainbow bridge. she is now happy there with Vodka, Maja, Madonna, and our other pet dogs who earlier crossed the rainbow.

We will miss her. She wasn't greeting us at the door because of her illness, but we always greeted her. I find myself looking out for her to reappear.

This isn't the first time we've laid a pet to rest. It is the first time we have been this grieved. This was the puppy that joined us when our nest was empty. We brought her home in my husbands pocket (yes she was that small). She was with us everyday. Greeted us and licked us, and snuggled on our laps and at our feet. She will be missed for a long time.

Thank you. Many people have walked this road. Fifi has been a part of our family in ways no other pet was. She was truly our furbaby....joining the family just as our nest was empty.

Were you able to bring her home to put her to rest @Morleyhunt ?My 3 were buried here on my property and every time I pass their graves I talk to them. I am so sorry this had to happen but you're right, at least she's not in pain any more.

Yes, we were able to bring her home and bury her on the property. She joins another dog that crossed the rainbow bridge at 13 years in 2002 and a cat that was 16 years.
We've planted a tiny oak tree.

I am so sorry. You must be feeling dreadful. I hope you'll try to remember what a great life she had with you. It is always devastating when a pet has to move on.

I've been crying off and on since coming home. We have so many lovely memories. We talked about my husband bringing her home in his pocket she was so small.
Life was a trial for her the last month. It was difficult for her to eat. She gave sporadic pain yelps.....it was time to let her go.

Sad isn't it, losing a good friend. I was very upset when one of our pets gone. Took me almost a decade to get over it.

I am crying just reading this. I did not know your Fifi, but, I did lose two very special ones in my life and I know how hard it is to let go.
