No Parking Overnight!

Tourist authorities must put a great deal of thought into designing signs that convey a message without having to resort to the use of language. And sometimes the choice of language is interesting too. In outback Australia a number of signs were in English and German; some even had symbols which might have been Japanese.
I liked this one which conveyed very clearly that motor-homes couldn’t stay overnight in the car park. We haven’t done much free camping. Last night we parked in an ‘Aire’, a designated ‘safe’ area which has limited facilities. To get a ticket to raise the barrier so we could drive in, we had to go through quite a rigmarole. Halfway through we had to put what country we were from but they obviously hadn’t heard of Australia as that wasn’t an option.
We could see a nice-looking building which we thought would be toilets at least and maybe even showers but it turned to be neither. At least we did have power but for just a few euro more we could have had many more facilities at a ‘proper’ campsite just next door. You live and learn I guess. But don’t you like my sign?

what sort of signs have you seen that would be ambiguous/or have different interpretations?

Signs! There are those that are pretty clear and there are those that aren't.

It's very clear isn't it? Sometimes people camp in parking areas and the authorities usually try to clamp down on them doing this.

Well that sign certainly says it all. Hope you can find proper facilities.

That sign gets its blunt message across quite nicely without words.

That's very true but we do have an Irish phone number so we opted for Ireland. They had all sorts of other obscure (to me) countries.
