“What will you feel if someone or somebody underestimated your ability?”

It was just two days and I had seen the shortcomings of my online editing essay stunts. I am trying not to set my own expectations. I accepted the job after agreeing to their rules and regulations. Besides, I am just wanting to have some extra cash and maximizing my internet. This morning, the manager had texted me and asking my commitment. But then, I felt insulted with some of his questions. It seems he is underestimating my ability to do editing 15 essays per day. The tone of his voice sounded like he doesn’t believe it. “What do you think?” Image Credit: unsplash.com

does he know that you're also teaching online? if you report to a physical office then he can see you and breath down your neck to make sure you finish everything before you go home, even if it means OT. i'm just trying to put myself in his shoes. as you said, you're the first batch of homebased editors so he is taking a big risk, too, in trusting that you'll always be there, and always submit on time.

@hereandthere The owner is from South Korea. The manager is a Filipino. All the online editors are working ESL and situated in Manila. I was the only one who lives in the province.

@Shavkat if they all passed the company's qa and they gave good feedback, then it's a good start. congrats! i guess they want to make sure you can commit to that amount and maintain the accuracy. maybe because sometimes we have this "ningas cogon" tendency. we're excited, motivated and hardworking in the beginning, then we start getting bored and slack off and disappear, so the jobsender/company is left hanging.

I feel very bad and insulted if someone underestimate my ability, earlier people got successful in making me feel down and less confident but not anymore. People behave in this manner, you should prove him wrong.

I can sense that he is quite insecure towards me. It is my own perception. I do feel so insulted for measuring me up like that.

@Shavkat yes these types of people are insecure inside. I can understand how you feel, take it as a challenge.

Anymore, too many people are like this, and want to jump to conclusions before something even ever takes place. Personally this person needs to Step back get out of everyone's way and give everyone a chance.

I agree. I had met so many people like this. I do hate it. As expected, I had proven that he is wrong.

I agree. I will do it for the company and not for him. I was being hired by his boss.

@Shavkat A hundred? That's a lot of work already. Is there minimum number of words you need to provide before submitting it?

Just prove him wrong so he can see that you can edit that many.

It can be very insulting if others underestimate our ability ... but in my case, I would normally do is show them the quality of the works of my hands ..

I think he knows it, my friend. He is in denial that I can do better than the others. I am saying it in a humble way.

maybe he was just testing you that you might leave the site after you have earned much? but the manager should know that you are an online teacher, and a medical professional at that.
