This is the third book I've read by author Susan Meissner. The other two were Secrets of a Charmed Life and Fall of the Marigolds. Susan Meissner writes very interesting books and all three that I've read are different. She has a way of weaving past and present into her books which makes for a great read. A Bridge Across the Ocean also brings the past and present together but this book has a bit of a paranormal to it. The past is about the end of World War II and war brides who come to American aboard the RMS Queen Mary. There are three different characters and their struggles through the war and how they came to be on the Queen Mary. The present is the main character Brett who is able to see spirits and goes aboard the Queen Mary in search of a spirit but comes across a whole different spirit who needs her help. It's hard to give more information than this because I would give away the whole story. It started off a bit slow but picked up the pace quickly enough that I almost couldn't put it down. All in all it's a mix of history with thriller/suspense. If you're looking for something good to read I give this book a big thumbs up
