Lights On or Lights Out?

When you sleep, do you prefer to keep the lights on or do you turn it off? Well, I turn it off because I can't sleep when it's not. My brother though needs to keep the lights on the whole night, since well, he is afraid of the dark despite being 16 already.
How about you guys?

@JeeyanDee My mother's sister-in-law became bedridden when she slipped and hit her head in the dark night. She had other problems too, but it was terrifying. She was a very active lady.
It was a wake-up call for me.

I used to be really afraid and need a light on in the room. Since being with my husband, who sleeps with no light, I've gotten used to being in complete darkness. So I can either sleep with no lights, or a small light in the hall or bathroom or something.

Light on no way. I prefer to have windows and curtains closed also. But my spouse you know does not give me that freedom.

If me and my wife are together, it's lights on... If I'm alone, its lights off.

If the lights are off only I get sleep. If anyone puts the light on in between my sleep gets disturbed and I find it very difficult to get back sleep. I can never sleep with the lights on.If proper sleep is required it is better to off the lights and sleep.
