Grabbing a little piece of time!

While Timothy is taking a nap, I'm grabbing the opportunity to use my keyboard! He loves jumping on it and taking over the computer every chance he gets, so when I'm online playing games or reading email, I have a small cutting board covering my keyboard so he can't do much damage. But I do have a touch screen, so sometimes he plays my games for me! lol I spent yesterday afternoon volunteering at the shelter and it was so much fun. 12 new kittens had just arrived and the shelter believes in socializing them immediately. I became the new Social Director! I took each kitten out, one at a time, snuggled as long as they would allow and then put them each on the floor to explore and play. I gave each one some pretty good exercise. One of the black and white kittens had unique markings on his body and face. To me, he looked like he would fit in perfectly with the rock band, Kiss! I began calling him Gene Simmons right away and the gal who operates the shelter agreed and said that just might be the name that sticks! I have new library books coming on Friday afternoon which will be great! This time around, I had books for a full month and I read more books than I have in a very long time. Our librarian picked out some great books for me. Since I've never read Anne McCaffrey, she's going to start me on those books soon. She (the librarian) loves Anne's books and she said she didn't know why she hadn't thought of me before now, but she's sure I will love them, too! I can't wait to start. She also said there's a new book coming my way. It's a re-working of the Lizzie Borden story. The Lizzie Borden house is only a couple of hours from me and I've been there a few times. The story is one I grew up on, since she was from this area. What's interesting is that the author of this new book is from Australia! The book has just come into the library and I'm going to be the first one to read it, so she asked if I could read that one first and write up a review for the library. I'm really excited about it. My niece called me last night. One of her cats seems to be suffering from something, or a couple of things, and it has my niece pretty rattled. She had noticed about a month ago that some of the fur on the cat's face was falling out. Just very small patches. The vet thought it could be mites or an allergy. She found nothing specific but she treated the cat for both, just in case. Well now, the cat's eyes are very swollen and a LOT of fur on her face is falling off. My niece sent me a picture of the cat last night and it looks horrible! I suggested she rush the cat into the vet today, but she's concerned because she doesn't know the vets there today. She does know a vet there tomorrow, so she's opting to wait another day (not something I would have done, but hopefully one more day won't make a huge difference). If the vet can't figure out the problem, she might have to do a biopsy and that has my niece in a real tailspin. So I talked to her until I was falling asleep (around 1am) and I'll touch base again tonight. I hope this is nothing too serious. I don't think my niece could handle another major feline problem. My heart really goes out to her right now. Hope you're all doing well. Now that I know I can jump online when Timothy is napping, that might be my best way to stay in touch! Claudia

With all those things that you have been doing, you surely have to grab some time just to be here. You are a busy person as I have observed from the activities you have just posted.

Sounds like you are having plenty of fun volunteering at the shelter. It does sound fun. Ann has a great dragon series. The Lizzy Borden story was on tv for about a one season I think. There have been several interesting theories on what actually happened. Always interested in a good murder mystery.
