who is more important

One of my friends asked me a strange question that who was more important for me,my family friends or someone else.i answered him that each and every person in my life is equally important though my approach towards each of theme is differen.i mean my approach towards my, say girlfriend is different with that of towards my friends though I love both of them equally. If both of them have a problem and needs me at the same time , I will be available for the one whose need is more important,and will convince the other about this. My friend didn't say anything at my reply. Was my answer right?
