Day 6 Song of Solomon 6 Song of Solomon 6:1 Whither is thy beloved gone, O thou fairest among women? Whither is thy beloved turned aside? That we may seek him with thee. 2 My beloved is gone down into his garden, to the beds of spices, to feed in the gardens, and to gather lilies. 3 I am my beloved’s, and my beloved is mine: he feeds among the lilies. 4 Thou art beautiful, O my love, as Tirzah, comely as Jerusalem, terrible as an army with banners. 5 Turn away thine eyes from me, for they have overcome me: thy hair is as a flock of goats that appear from Gilead. 6 Thy teeth are as a flock of sheep which go up from the washing, whereof every one bears twins, and there is not one barren among them. 7 As a piece of a pomegranate are thy temples within thy locks. 8 There are threescore queens, and fourscore concubines, and virgins without number. 9 My dove, my undefiled is but one; she is the only one of her mother, she is the choice one of her that bare her. The daughters saw her, and blessed her; yea, the queens and the concubines, and they praised her. 10 Who is she that looks forth as the morning, fair as the moon, clear as the sun, and terrible as an army with banners? 11 I went down into the garden of nuts to see the fruits of the valley, and to see whether the vine flourished, and the pomegranates budded. 12 Or ever I was aware, my soul made me like the chariots of Amminadib. 13 Return, return, O Shulamite; return, return, that we may look upon thee. What will ye see in the Shulamite? As it were the company of two armies. What makes your spouse stand out from all others? What is it about him or her that you would fight for him or her until your last breath? What is it about your spouse that if he or she were absent for just a few moments that you hunger to see him or her? What is it about your spouse that makes you comfortable without words or actions, but just being with him or her is all you would ever want? Solomon had many wives and concubines, but he singled out one as the love of his life, the one that gave him the most joy and pleasure to be with. She was the one he would go to war over. She was the one he would fight for. As Christians, you are the bride of Christ. God promised to fight for you, to go ahead of you to pave the way for you. God promised his Son to be your Savior, but more than that to be your bridegroom. As his bride, he washes you with the Word, restores you and reconciles you to himself. He listens to everything you say, sees each tear that falls, and holds you in his loving arms. Jesus loves you with an unconditional love. There is nothing you can do to take his love from you. GOD’S UNCONDITIONAL LOVE Why do you wallow in despair and dejection? Do you not know I bring intercession? Why do you think yourself unworthy of love? I came with blessings from above. Why do you see yourself unbeauteous and jest? All creation is my majestic best. I spoke a word; you came to be A lovely expression of my love for thee. My love for you is not the fleeting kind. When I came I had you on my mind. For you I was born, and for you I died To have you eternally by my side. Valerie Jean Routhieaux 07/09/09 God loves you, and as your Father, he made a way for you to be forever with him. Have you loved God, or told him you love him today? Let’s pray: Father, thank you for loving me, unconditionally. Thank you for seeking me out to be your bride. Thank you that your thoughts are always directed towards me. Help me to tell you I love you for all you have done for me, every day of my life. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen. Copyright © 18 August 2017 by Valerie Routhieaux Image courtesy of Pixabay
