Childhood Memory - Favorite Toys.

After talking to a friend on here a few nights ago, on one of my other "Childhood Memory" posts; I got the idea for this one. So, here it is. Growing up I loved playing house. It didn't matter if I was playing it with baby dolls, beanie babies, or barbies; I just loved playing. So when I got this baby doll wearing a red one piece outfit, with a matching stroller and swing for Christmas one year - I was SO happy! It became the only doll I ever played with, and I always slept with it.. I still have it too, but it's packed in a box with all my stuffies. Another favorite toy was this kitchen center my mom had got me for either a birthday or Christmas. It was mostly white, and had a baby doll seat in the back of it. I played with that thing every day. Also, my easy bake oven! I used that every day too. My then bestfriend and I would come home every day from school, turn on the little mermaid, and bake ourselves an after school snack! We still talk about those days, every time we get together too. . -- What are one or two of your favorite toys as a kid? Who bought them for you?

I had some wooden ducks that were on a string with little wheels on them and I pulled those behind me and loved them..I can remember those as far back as age 3. I do not remember any other toys except for spinning tops.

Mine was my Shirley Temple doll that Santa ( well that is what the card said) gave me. I still have it. Does that tell you how old I am?

My sister and I got a Fisher-Price oven one year for Christmas, which I loved. We would always "cook" our little plastic foods in it, and later we converted it to Barbie and Ken's apartment complex. The Christmas when I was four, my parents also made me and my sister a Barbie dollhouse... they converted it from a bookcase. It was so nice. They put real linoleum in the kitchen and glued small rugs to the living room and bedroom floors. Wallpaper on the "walls" and cut out pictures of appliances like an oven and refrigerator in the kitchen, a TV (with a picture of the Wizard of Oz glued to it) in the living room, even cut out pictures of toys to glue on the walls in the kids' room to make it look like there was a shelf with teddy bears sitting on it...and they built doll furniture to go in it. We knew they were making it for us before Christmas and were so excited when it was finally done and put under the tree. We had it exactly one day and then my cousins came over and one of them shoved her fingernail through the wallpaper in the living room and tore it. Their family was way better off financially than ours was, and they got the REAL Barbie Dream House for Christmas...and I guess my cousin couldn't stand seeing us with anything nice, so she ruined it. My favorite toys were probably my Barbies, I had a ton of those when I was a kid. I always asked for new ones for Christmas and my birthday, and I would spend my Christmas money I got from my mom's parents on new dolls too. Most of my Barbies were the cheap ones that just came wearing a bathing suit, but I didn't care. Half the time they didn't wear clothes anyway. XD Oh, and then there is my Bubba Bear, which I got for Christmas when I was five. He was my favorite teddy bear and I still sleep with him all these years later.

@Courtlynn I kind of figured, since we had been talking about our childhood toys. ;) And yes, I loved that dollhouse! If I ever have kids I would love to make something like that for them.

@Courtlynn It was more like a Barbie doll all grown up. She was about 16 inches tall. She came wearing a bridal dress with a veil and extra clothes.

I got this ventriloquist puppet called Tommy Talker that I loved. I use to practice all the time. I want to be a ventriloquist. I was never very good at it but it was a lot of fun. I still have him packed away in a box somewhere.

I did not have any toys of mine till I was about seven but my brother had them and so I had to play with them. My sister had a humming top that I used to like playing with and a monkey that would walk up a stick kind of thing but I could only play with those when I went to her house.

Light brite was a favorite of mine too. Loved doing the paper things they had with it to trace with the pegs. But also loved doing my own things with it.

I still have a Popcorn Junior machine my aunt got me after I was in a serious accident at age 3. It looks just like the machine at the theater, except it is small. It had a scoop, little boxes for the popcorn. It still lights up, but I have no desire to try it out LOL - after all it is 67 years old.
