Favorite Gary Moore Songs #1 - "End of the World"

By now, you are probably all guitar solo'd out as I've counted down my favorite songs by my favorite guitarist, the late Gary Moore. Don't worry, there are just a couple left, as we have reached #1: "End of the World." Yes, it's another protest song. From his 1982 album, Corridors of Power, "End of the World" is positively doomsday, a diatribe against nuclear weapons. Remember, this was the 1980's, and it was assumed that we would be at war with the Soviet Union sooner than later (sound familiar? Substitute "North Korea" for "Soviet Union" and this song fits right into these modern times.) Jack Bruce (Cream) performed vocals on the song, and his powerhouse voice was just what the heavy duty rocker needed. It was released as a single only in the United States, where, as was the case in Moore's metal/hard rock career, it was largely ignored (he fared better over here when he switched to playing the blues.) The linked video is a live performance from 1984, with Moore handling vocal duties. R.I.P., Gary. Thank you for the great music. (Info verified by Wikipedia)

I've always liked that he threw the main guitar solo in at the beginning.

I think I ranked it 4th. That was hard to do, but I couldn't drop the others. Part of what makes these so fun.

This one does many pretty things with a guitar . There are many good rock guitarists solos : Deep Purple , slash in GNR , Brian May and so on ....

He never hooked onto a powerhouse group. He preferred doing his own thing?

I believe so. He always had a great band, but I think he preferred being solo. More control, I guess.
