My Crazy Dream-or was It?

I dreamed that every person was busily looking through all the property they owned. They looked through attics, garages, basements, storage areas, junk drawers and secret hiding places. They each brought out things they were not using and took them to a central place outside. There, they offered up their seldom used goodies to anyone who felt they wanted it. Families exchanged clothes and toys. The homeless got food, toys, and clothing. Whoever was in need got what he or she required. Happy people stood together and embraced one another. Then I woke up and heard the news of the day. I heard about talk of wars, starving people, neglected children, and abused fur babies. My dream was just a wish that will probably never happen. What do you think? Is my dream even possible?

Well... I think you had a very nice dream, Jo Ann... Unfortunately, I don't believe something like this would ever happen. Even if most people decided this would be something they could get behind and they did their best to encourage everyone they knew to do this, too, there are always going to be some people who would decide they "needed" as much of the things as they could take, whether people who truly needed stuff had any of it or not.

@akalinus Oh, I'm sorry, Jo Ann... I thought it was just me that forgets I've written discussions... (Shake my head!) Yup! People will always just be people... As far as I know, there isn't a cure for that! It was a nice dream, though.

@DaddyEvil Yeah, I kind of liked it. The news of the day shattered my brief illusions.

I completely forgot about this post and don't remember writing it. People are people and you can't blame them for that. My dream was about an ideal world that does not exist. Except that there would not be homeless people in my ideal world.

I would love that your dream will come true, but I fear that this will never happen. May be in your dream you have seen the Paradise.

@LadyDuck From the looks of things, I don't think it will be very soon.

They say that strangers were kind to strangers when the eclipse happened. Maybe it can again.

That was only a few hours, but maybe it was a beginning. One can only hope.

@akalinus Sometimes you got to take what you can get. I like the grassroots projects like the Gleaners- folks who harvest what would have been wasted then hand it to seniors and hungry families.

@sallypup We can never get everyone on the same page. We can only do our bit for society.

Nope. I don't think it will ever happen because people are selfish. I donate clothes that don't fit anymore to the Kidney Foundation.

Sometimes communities are able to make such dreams become a reality.
