Day 11 Isaiah 11-12 11:1 And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots: 2 And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD; 3 And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears: 4 But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked. 5 And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins. 6 The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them. 7 And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox. 8 And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice’ den. 9 They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea. 10 And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his rest shall be glorious. 11 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the Lord shall set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and from Cush, and from Elam, and from Shinar, and from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea. 12 And he shall set up an ensign for the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth. 13 The envy also of Ephraim shall depart, and the adversaries of Judah shall be cut off: Ephraim shall not envy Judah, and Judah shall not vex Ephraim. 14 But they shall fly upon the shoulders of the Philistines toward the west; they shall spoil them of the east together: they shall lay their hand upon Edom and Moab; and the children of Ammon shall obey them. 15 And the LORD shall utterly destroy the tongue of the Egyptian sea; and with his mighty wind shall he shake his hand over the river, and shall smite it in the seven streams, and make men go over dry shod. 16 And there shall be a highway for the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria; like as it was to Israel in the day that he came up out of the land of Egypt. 12:1 And in that day thou shalt say, O LORD, I will praise thee: though thou wast angry with me, thine anger is turned away, and thou comforted me. 2 Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation. 3 Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation. 4 And in that day shall ye say, Praise the LORD, call upon his name, declare his doings among the people, make mention that his name is exalted. 5 Sing unto the LORD; for he hath done excellent things: this is known in all the earth. 6 Cry out and shout, thou inhabitant of Zion: for great is the Holy One of Israel in the midst of thee. Christmas is coming in just a couple of months and one thing everyone wants for Christmas is peace. Yet, it is the one thing that never seems to come about with all the wars and threats of wars you hear daily on the news. So, we hope there will be peace in our time. If not today, then soon. It might seem like Isaiah was a bit off with his prophecy because we haven’t had peace on earth since God created man and sin entered the world. With sin came greed, deception, malice, strife, and every crime known to man. When is the peace Isaiah talked about going to take place? When will the lion lay down with the lamb? However, that day is coming still. God told Isaiah that in that day the Branch, the seed of Jesse, our Messiah, Jesus, slain on Calvary for the sin of the world, would return to rule and bring justice to all those who were oppressed. He will smite the wicked with a word from his mouth. Then peace will reign, and people will know the LORD the God of Jacob. In that day, God will bring back all his children, Israel, and Judah together, and they will know their Messiah. When will this take place? When will we see Jesus return for his bride and rule the nations with peace and justice? Matthew 24:3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? And what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? 4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. 5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. 6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. 7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows. 9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake. 10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. 11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. 12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. 13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come. What are we seeing in the world today? Jesus told us the signs to look for, and if you watch the news, you know everything he said is now happening. But Jesus also said the end isn’t yet. The end would come when the gospel reaches the entire world. With media today, that is happening. However, there are still countries which do not allow its people to listen to anything that will bring them peace and understanding of God’s will for them. It is contraband and anyone found with a Bible or listening to God’s Word, are executed. There are also places on earth that don’t have access to different forms of media, so have never heard of God or Jesus, his Son, and the promised he gave to send him to be their Savior. There is still much work to be done. Jesus said the harvest fields are ripe. He just needs laborers to go in and reap souls for the kingdom of God. It doesn’t take much to go to all the world as Jesus gave all Christians the commission to do. You only need a computer today to reach the world. You also need to listen to his urging when he tells you to physically go to the various mission fields around the world. Anyone who calls themselves a Christian is without excuse when it comes to being a laborer in God’s fields. You only need to be willing and obedient. Then when everyone has heard about God and his salvation plan for their lives, they will be able to embrace Jesus as their Savior. Let’s pray: Father, help me take the gospel to the world. Help me tell anyone who will listen about you and your love for them in sending Jesus, your son to be their Messiah. Open my mouth Lord, and fill it with your Word. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.
