Have you created any of your own sudoku strategies?

Learning how to solve a sudoku puzzle is pretty easy, but the process of actually solving one (especially if it's diabolical-rated) can be frustrating. When logic fails you, sometimes a new strategy is in order. Tell us what you try when you're stuck.

I start by working one number at a time. The when lines and boxes start getting nearly filled in, I start looking at what remains to fill in that space and work in that way. I try to find where things belong and also rule out where they don't belong. This helps me narrow down where all of the numbers go. I take a lot longer than a lot of other people I've heard of to complete a sudoku puzzle because I reason it all out in my head instead of just starting to put numbers down. I don't put in a number unless I'm very confident of it. It's not really a race anyway, so it's all good.

I just love playing it. I know there are lots of strategies.. but it is sometimes hard to figure them out and takes awhile. I guess practice helps too. I do them all the time. Just love them!!!

You know what, me and my hubby are really getting addicted with the sudoku in the tv program here, its just amazing how they solve the puzzle, how they come up with a certain number, and the strategy they are using. Its really nice cos you'll have to let your brain work for it.

I actually to try and knock out certain numbers. If there are a lot of two's then I go around trying to see where they can go. Other than that, it's freelance problem solving. It's a process of elimination. I like this game because it keeps me busy. Sometimes I hate it when I can't find a number. It's like I've been going in circles, but then I make progress, Yay for me!
