Costumes in School

I am missing my small private school. I had to shut down in 2016 because parents refused to pay tuitions and thought I was mistreating their children when giving bad grades for assignments they refuse to do. I just got tired of dealing with lazy, apathetic, deceitful parents. But I do miss some of my students, especially around this time of year. For the month of October, they were allowed to dress up every day. We would try to include something fun into the school day. This was especially easy with literature. We would go on field trips in their costumes. Their friends, in public schools, envied them. One of our most enjoyable filed trips was to the nature trails at Ft. Toulouse (featuring native american history). They had art and science assignments to go along with this field trip. My daughter insisted on dressing up like Johnny Depp. I thought she was adorable.

That sounds sad you can't see the kids in costumes now

Do you plan to reopen the school?

I am opening this year under workshops and tutoring, but won't open a full-time school until I can get enough money to rent a place in another town. The town I live in, people just expect free services. I have had parents call me and tell me they would enroll with me if I would teach for free.

@gnatsmom It is a good thing you are planning to open in another town. They should pay for your services
