Can you remain friends with your ex?

After you broke up with your boyfriend/girlfriend or separated with your husband/wife, will you choose to remain friends with him/her and continue your communication? Or, would you rather cut all your communications and the things that reminds you of the said person?

Well, it would depend on the person and the reasons. If the relationship was a very toxic one, I'd probably want to cut all ties and be done with it.
